Hi all...new here and never owned a LC before. About to buy a 90 LJ70 Turbo Diesel VX. Truck spent most it’s life in Spain. I’m concerned about the mileage. At 200k miles what issues will I likely be faced with...engine rebuilt? TIA!

Thanks buddy! There’s a video of it...sounds and looks good IMG_0683.mov@Nefyn welcome to the forum! I guess the first question would be, what type of person was the previous owner/owners? If it was a well maintained vehicle, you may not have any issues for a while. If the PO beat the LJ and didn't maintain it, you could have quite a bit of work in store for you. Just depends. I would search out LJ70 "Build" Threads on the forum, and that would probably give you a pretty good preview of what immediate future could look like if you choose to go down this road. Welcome again!
Thanks for the info! With zero rust, assuming overall mechanically sound, what do you think a fair price would be?I have 330,000 km (~205,000 miles) on my 91 LJ77, also from Spain.
There is a bit of info on the 2LT engine in the forum.
Use some Water Wetter in the radiator.

I did change out my glow plugs but winters in CT are a bit colder than SC.

Thanks for the info. What are your thoughts on short road trip highway driving? 2 to 4 hours? In terms of speed, comfort, and reliability? Generally speaking@Nefyn , ^ what Joe said, they may be asking in $16K-$20K range, but before you drop that type of coin, I would take it for a test drive to see if this is what you really want. Some people expect newer gasser type performance/acceleration out of these little diesel engines.
The 70 Series has the best lines of any 4x4 ever built in my opinion and it has a Toyota badge on it. Enough said right there, right? but..... just take it for a drive before spending that kind of money to make sure reality lines up with the expectations in your head. Some guy posted a few weeks ago about about some serious buyer's remorse due to power and acceleration disappointments. I hate to see that happen to anyone. Know what you are getting into. However, f you have already driven one, then you already know what to expect. Good Luck. Let us know how it goes.
