Hi, First what’s new, resistor ,Denso. Fan which is from Canada works on high when hooked to battery,. Relay by drivers side kick plate, new Toyota. Problem: no low or high speed. New heater under passengers seat , works fine, Toyota Ac button lights and air blows cold. Toyota compressor. Tired of the problems ,not just the Toyotas.

Get a wiring diagram and hammer through this. No easy fix - just a disciplined approach all the way through the wiring.

No chance you put a 24V fan in?

Also, your best friend when diagnosing electrical problems on an old cruiser is a test lamp with an incandescent bulb in it.

Still no better. Fan not getting but 5.2 volts at last connection when fan is plugged in. When fan is not plugged in I’m getting 13.2 volts at the same connection. Two of us worked on it for 2 and 1/2 hours.

these can and do go bad , short out inside and burn up same as all other circa era toyota Front blower fan switches ,

its not a sure thing on all toyots , but when a blower resister has a bad day and Melts Down , it can have a adverse effect on the dash switch too

so field bench test it in-place via the plug in below pics each speed other then PFF should have simple continuity like beep beep your digi-meter

make sure you unplug switch first !

you have volts but no amps

So thanks for the help. Problem figured out but still looking for a ground. All parts tested good with meter. Wired a new ground and now have high speed which works for me in this heat.Found and cleaned grounds behind steering wheel and two side support a pillars. Looked at schematic but shows no place where the grounds terminate. Who knows where the fan ground is? Maybe someone parting out a fj 60 or 62. Thanks, Mike

One speed is better than nothing, esp when it’s high speed in this heat wave.

Quick clarifying question -

- Did this appear after some work or were there signs of decline like losing speeds over time ?

I recently lost low, but have med/high and just wondered what im in for ... eventually

Well what I found out is you can’t just hook up high by grounding it directly,it blows the 30 amp fuse in the fuse panel. The saga continues. Where does the blower ground?
