That's it, IMO. 80's and 100's have a generic, unattractive modern SUV appearance. The 60 series actually has some class.

I might agree with you on the 100's - but 80's have plenty of style and class. Don't get me wrong - I love old wagons (60/62 included), but the 45lv and 55 take the cake in the style department. The 80 just does it all w/o any compromises...and the styling reminds me a lot of my 55.

id say its a chick magnet, as most of the time I see women driving the 60's I see going by around here ;)

far as having more style than an 80, Id have to disagree. I look at both everyday and the 80 just keeps growing on me more and more. True theyre a little more mainstream looking than a 60, but not much.

I remember the first time I saw a 55. I just about fell out of the car. Loved it. But it's peculiar looking, and I've always leaned toward peculiar cars. I want something that's either totally invisible (Avalon, Corolla) or that stands out like a sore thumb (60, TR6) that aren't mainstream. The 55 goes way over that. There's something about it that's really not for everyone. I bet when you drive a 55 anywhere, you get more "WTF is that thing?"

And I think you could loose an 80 in a parking lot - can't do that with a 60. A 60 doesn't grow on you - it makes it's statement right off the bat, as far as style goes. Hell, I was at a car show a few weeks ago and a guy driving a 62 picked my truck out just from the roofline. All he could see was from about 6" down the A pillar up. That's all it takes. ;)

My 12 year daughter has told me that she's embarrased to be seen in my 60. She's becoming a bit too self concious for her own good. Then, yesterday she told me that she was chatting with her friends and the subject of parent's cars came up. One friend described her Dad's old pickup as a major "geekmobile". My daughter added my "old truck" to the list of put downs, at which point one friend replied, "Oh no, that old red truck (my 60) is way cool!" I'm happy she bothered to tell me about it :)

As the father of two daugthers - I would like to interject that, if your daughter is between 14 and 20 or so, she doesn't even want to be seen with YOU. Get used to it. They will get over it eventually.

My red 60 does get a lot of compliments. Had a guy in a Range Rover roll down his window at a stop light and chew my ear about how great a vehicle the 60 is - he was a former owner...

Now THAT'S funny. If he was in a Defender, it would be kind of cool. If he was in a Disco ( :princess: ) you'd kind of have to wonder if he'd been hit in the head with a rock or something.

If you spend enough, you CAN keep a Rover on the road. You set it up for towing and pull along a spare...

Thanks for the fix and the laugh.

PS: Let me know what happens on the Parabolic Springs.

The 62 is the wife's dd and she regularly gets comments and lots of questions. She commented last week that the 55 is truely the "chick magnet". "It gets more looks and comments than a puppy". So where do I find that clean troopy?

my wife loves the , i may have to fight her for it someday. but i do get a lot of compliments too, and it wheels stock like a monster! i think it behaves better off-road than on road
