Passenger comfort probably wasn't high on the list of concerns. : )

Driver comfort definitely was not. It has springs, but the axles may as well have been bolted to the frame directly ...

2nd oil change on the rebuilt engine @ 2,500 miles. There were no large metal parts in the oil bucket.

Strangely enough, the only oil stain under the engine bay is coming from the power steering gear box. A project for next week.

Charles - To expand upon Wayne's Wisdom, here is a simple sequence for your satisfaction.

1. Buy one of the HZJ 77s below at auction in Japan (or something similar)
2. Ship it to New Zealand, register and insure it there
3. Secure storage (I know a guy - mechanic on south island with indoor storage, very reasonable)
4. Vacation at length for vehicular visitation
5. Import to USA when legal.

Unless, of course, you know someone in Canada...

While I realize this isn't a 70 Series, the history alone should be of interest to any Cruiserhead.
A friend here in town recently purchased this 1977 FJ40. It's a one owner ( now two ) that has spent its entire life on a Southern plantation.
Original mileage since 1977.....
