Hey Guys,
I've been a long time lurker and occasional LC owner. I've been into Land Rovers for quiet awhile and every once in awhile I try something new just to branch out. I had an FJ80 Awhile ago then a XJ a little more recently. I'll probably be going back into a Rover.

Not too long ago I bought this FJ60. I've always liked them. I love their brute simplicity. Above all their reputation for reliability. Something the Land Rover world lacks a bit. So I thought I'd try one. Well even though there is nothing wrong with this truck in particular I still want my Rover more.

I purchased this truck in the Phoenix area and drove it home 400 miles as I bought it. The only hiccup I had was a tire shifted a belt. I have since put tires and wheels on it. It runs strong. Shifts as it should. No overheating or major leaks. It does have play in the front drag/steering bars around the tie rod ends. 4wd hi and low work fine. To me it feels like an old truck usually does. This is a good driver and a great start for a restoration or major build up. It's not a pristine princess. I'm not saying it's a cream puff.

No major rust anywhere. Floors are solid. The only spot of anything is a small bubble on the roof rail. Paint is crap. It looks good from 15ft. But it was poorly resprayed. Thankfully it was in its original color. Body has a small dent in drivers front fender and the panel below the front grill. Nothing major. It does have some goofy looking homemade bumpers on it. The rear isn't too bad but the front in my opinion is awful. Looks like Bubba from Forest Gump.

It has a small crack very low in the windshield. For some reason the passenger front glass is scratched on the inside.

All lights and turn signals work. The factory oil pressure gauge is the only one that doesn't work. But there is an aftermarket one in the truck to supplement it. The drivers window regulator is a bit janky going up and down. It rattles when off roading.

Obviously I'll post up more pics. But these are what I have on me.

I realize I have zero rep on this site. If someone wants to check me out I'm on Landroverforums.com under the same screen name. Also Discoweb.com. I've sold many parts and trucks. I've never had one person be unhappy.

I had a 2002 Discovery for some time. One of the most comfortable vehicles I've driven. I just couldn't keep up with repair costs... got the 3 amigos right before I sold it.

You've got a nice looking truck here and it should sell at that price relatively quickly. Do you know the history on it?

I don't have much verifiable history. I do know the guy I got it from used it at his vacation house in Az. According to him it's always been a desert truck. I can see no evidence to the contrary. Looking around the truck it seems to have had regular maintenance. There are no major leaks. Nor are there major deposits of oil or grease anywhere.

I like the D2 but that damn ABS/TC system is a real pain. I had an 04 when they finally fixed it with a better computer. I still wound up rebuilding the module/shuttle valve. Finally shut those stupid warning lights up for good.

The D1 is a way simpler truck to work on and maintain. The worst part about the entire truck is the aluminum engine. Prone to overheat and sensitive to popping headgaskets. With a few fixes and mods and regular maintenance they really aren't bad trucks. They drive really really good. When they can be bothered to move under their own power. Hahah.

Looking forward to more pics. Did you pick it up from someone here?

You're right about that front bumper!

You wouldn't happen to do something with fire extinguishers for a living would you? If so I think I've gotten a couple of parts from you in the past when you were parting out a RR.

Yep that's me . I parted out a Classic and a P38 awhile ago. Hahah. Small world.

I picked this truck up near Phoenix and drive it back here.

Small world indeed.

When you get a chance to post more pics can you grab some of the interior and one of the rust bubble.

Do you know what suspension is on the 60?

Will do. I'll post some up when I get home if it's before dark.

Suspension looks stock to me. Aside from the replaced shocks. I wonder if the shackles are longer though. I'll get a pic of those too.

Out of curiosity what did you buy from me from the Range Rover?

A/c compressor, headlights, Seat motor if I recall correctly. It's all still in a box in the garage! as I seem to spend all my time on the 60.

My friend and he still hasn't forgiven me for it..

Forgot to mention before, it also has new hoses and waterpump. New clutch slave cylinder. Fuel pump. I'm sure more that I'm forgetting.

The drivers side still has the god awful faded purple window tint. I've steamed it off the passenger side. I will get that done asap.

Little update. A perspective buyer and member here was kind enough to run a carfax on this truck. Turns out it failed California emissions a few times and it was registered in AZ shortly after. The truck has all its emissions equipment present.

I've contacted the previous owner in hopes of shedding some light on the reason why it failed. There is no smoke of any color. The plugs aren't black or oily. It runs fine.

I wanted to share this information with members here to be completely transparent. I may wind up pulling the ad entirely and dealing with this and the other minor issues listed above then resist.
