Good point, the "F body" pan and windage

My 2 cents:
(1) Does your engine have a "front of engine" mounted throttle body/air intake?? If so I make a 44" long throttle cable conversion.
(2) I'm guessing your tranny adapter is AA, does it have a built-in VSS feature??.
(3) On a normal Chevota conversion the radiator is normally moved rearward and lower. Rearward because it is too far in front of the fan blade, and lower because it is too high and the fan blade will cut through the path of the lower radiator hose.

In your case I'd leave a radiator on top of the front crossmember where the stock radiator is now, thus more room to move the engine forward, thus more rear drive shaft length. If you are having a custom radiator made for your LS engine, top hose will be 1 3/8"I.D., bottom hose will be 1 1/2"I.D. (double check this with your engine though). You can also gain some more room in front of the engine by eliminating the engine's fan clutch. If your engine is 1995-older you'd use PermaCool eliminator #24750. If your engine is 1996-newer you's use Flex-a-lite spin-on eliminator #851, and Flex-a-lite reverse rotation fan #1517.

dad4x4, In today's world (my personal belief is) FJ40's come in three flavors:
(1) Pristine show room floor restored, worth a zillion dollars.
(2) Daily driver with stock 6 cylinder, worth $2,000 to $20,000 (many listed for $20-50,000, but NOT sold).
(3) V8 Chevotas, not many for sale, owners too happy with them.

Too true. My 1982 would be worth MUCH more in stock condition but would be NEAR as fun to drive with the suspension, engine, trans, power steering, air conditioning, seating, gearing, lockers, lighting, electrical upgrades and modifications. All the old cool looks with modern convienences and driveability.

I found headers through sanderson headers 150LS. they worked ok had to modify the driver side to get around the steering box. All in all its going pretty good i think i will be up and running in about 3 weeks i will put some pics up of where i am at i should get my drive shafts back today and run all my lines tonight for gas, trans cooler and power steering cooler. I had to go with duel 10in electric fans should work fine.

Hello,
How is the conversion going?

All the best

Ferd
It went really well and i have been enjoying my land cruiser again for a couple months now. We took it to moab utah rock crawling and had a blast it did really well.

from the dead.....

What did you end up doing for exhaust for that driver side with your stock steering box ?

On my 5.3 swap I did a center dump block hugger and it worked great. I tried several OEM options including truck, Camaro, tahoe, and Corvette. None fit. The block huggers fit perfectly. I had a 69fj40 with a Saginaw conversion. If you search my screen name you should find my thread all the pn's are on the first page.
