1982 fj40 production no. ?

So you guys saying mine isn't an 82? Or am I misreading your numbers. In theory I have an early 82? I got the number off my title so I don't know the production date......

Production date and model year aren't necessarily the same.

My '40 was produced 12/81 but it's an '82. IIRC they began building '82's in 11/81. Regardless of the 1981 production date, they're still '82's. Is that what you're asking?

I did check the frame I have in the barn in VT. It's a 1980 frame. I'm not aware of any dimensional differences, but you may be looking for specifically a 1982 frame. Also, it has a lot of surface rust, and I know you Texas guys get very squeamish about rust.

From that picture, I'd say you just need a few patch panels. Not bad at all.

I thought back at least in the 80's that the new Toyota model year began in September. So, a 9/81 would have been an 82 model.

I like that idea, just to see how many of these "rustbuckets" are still rolling.
I believe there is a book coming out soon, followed by a movie.
