Sound insulating part 1

Put in Fatmat Triple X (Same as Dynamat Xtreme) for road noise front to back and we also added in 1/2" Dyna Liner on the whole roof between the supports to quite things down a little more as well

Sound insulating part 2

Then we prepped, cleaned, taped/masked off and plugged the holes then sprayed Raptor U-Poly bed liner kit to ad durability and hopefully more sound isolation properties to our 60. Best trick was using ear plugs to plug bolt holes. Worked awesome and was super quick, thanks mud!

Wow looking real good! So jealous of the toyota diesel sexiness and good on you for helping the hubby out on this. My wife loves BeBe but I highly doubt she would do more than help me bleed the brakes. And nice shop too, wish I had one to do stuff like this!

Looks great.

You'll be really glad you sprayed everything now, before installing the body, I went the "DIY Lizard Skin" route, but didn't get the firewall sprayed. It made a huge difference and was within budget. I also put a layer of foil bubble wrap between the body and the carpet but may eventually go with the layer of rubber from McMaster-Carr later. I just didn't want anything under the carpet that could hold water.

Now would be a great time to drill-out/remove the supports behind the side panels in the rear cargo area for some Wagongear panels from Kevin or make your own.

I've got one of those 3B AC brackets on mine, works great, I had the parts cut at a local waterjet shop. Looking back I wish the compressor mount holes were a slightly different size to match the compressor holes, but I can't remember whether they should have been bigger or smaller. I bolted the the front and side parts on and tacked it together while still on the truck, then welded it and welded on the rear support on the welding table. Use nylon-lock nuts on the compressor mount bolts (don't ask how I know :o), if you use a Sanden 709 compressor, I can get the belt lengths and parts numbers for you.
I'd like to see what you use as a tensioner for the AC belt. My fabbed one works fine and is very simple, but I'm open to better designs. I could post a pic if you want. All the underhood stuff was generic hotrod AC parts. My AC worked great for a while. Now everything I read says my TXV is stuck open. So I'll replace the old evaprator core and TXV (both were used from a FJ) while it's apart so all the parts are new. You may want to replace the same parts while you have it all out.

kicking around the idea of getting a possible group buy post and have a few of these 3b A/C brackets laser cut from the plans on this site: www.serie4.fr/fichiers/meca/support de clim bj/support clim.htm anybody have any thought on it or experience with these plans?

I've got an 84 bj60 that will require ac. If you get the system and bracket sorted I'm game for the same. Let me know

Making room...

I know this isn't directly related to our build post, but we're trying to clear out some space in the garage and have some old seats for an AE86 that we're giving away for free. Local pickup only, there's at least one set that is in good enough shape to clean up and use. The others probably need to be recovered, here's the craigslist ad if anyone is interested:

Thanks!

Your progress looks awesome! I want to sound proof my roof but am too scared to pull out my headliner. I'd like to hear a future update on durability of the bedliner over the peel n stick sound deadener. Do you have any concerns about the heat reflective quality of the sound deadener being reduced with the liner over it?

I didn't want to hi-jack this thread, so I put the requested info and pics here:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/diesel-tech-24-volts-systems/783985-ac-3b.html

If you ask questions on that one, we might not distract any more from cmhar82's work, which is looking really good.

I'd love vinyl flooring...didn't know they made it. I'm interested to see the interior all put together.
