I also need to tear down, clean, grease, and rebuild my hi-lift jack. It's really not working right and I know it sat for a long time before I got it. It's also been bounced around in the back of the pickup a lot which I'm sure hasn't helped.

Don't know if anyone else who's been using Hi-Lifts for a long time will agree or not, but my experience is that a 100% clean and UN-lubricated jack works much better than a greased one. A lubed one probably does seem to work better "on the bench", but that will not be the case after it rides in the truck a while. I actually carry Brakleen to use on it on the trail vice WD40 or similar; once you get all the dirt and grime off the moving parts, they usually do pretty good. Just my 2¢.

So, yesterday I was poking around in the garage after I finished up my honey-do list. I had the old hood release from the 4Runner that my drive train came out of. My current hood release was an inner door handle that someone had rigged up for me. It was super janky and also the roll cage was in the way of being able to pull it fully. So I drilled a couple of holes in the metal dash under and to the left of the steering wheel. Mounted it up and ran the cable. Now it's right next to my power outlet. I'll try to snap some pics when I get home tonight.

I also was looking at how I could possibly mount a real overflow bottle. When I installed the RE I had to remove the washer bottle and overflow (made together on this truck) to make room for the air box. Since I have removed the condenser from the truck (had a hole in it and I decided it wasn't worth messing with) I am thinking I could possibly install it in front of the radiator behind the grille. The only thing up there now is my aux power steering cooler. I think I can work around that. It might be a little tricky with the way the PS lines are run but I think I can make it work.

Well, I didn't work on the truck any today. I might tinker with it a bit tomorrow. I did revive a honda mower that hasn't run in about 5 years. All it took was some elbow grease and about $2 worth of gas. Luckily the previous owner that handed it down to me had a service done on it a few years ago including a carb rebuild so everything was brand new! I took the carb apart, cleaned it really well, cleaned off the spark plug, drained the old gas, refreshed and it was almost ready to go. The throttle cable was frozen so I took it off and sprayed a ton of wd40 down in there and worked it with some pliers. Once I got it moving pretty freely I lubricated the rest of the moving parts and put it back in. Works like a charm!!!

Sorry for the mower tech. Back to truck tech tomorrow...

Mounted up my overflow bottle (temporarily, hence the zip ties) and test fitted the grille. It's tight but it'll do. A few pics of the recent minor upgrades.

Not the prettiest but it's a trail truck!!!

Had someone that wanted to go for a test drive but she couldn't reach the pedals...

Well, I took the old sled out for a drive around the neighborhood.

Other than needing some air in the tires it did great. Running on the street with like 12 psi equals ocean going vessel steering. :steer: Will def need to go air back up. Also could use a bit of a bath...

Dang, 12psi IS my street pressure! Not necessarily what I want them at, but it's just what I hope to hit when trying to air up 4 big tires from 5# with ARB OBA at a trailhead.

Sam, see if your dealer wants to sponsor a trip for you to Rubicon or Moab this year. Onur should do the same.

They won't. I'm just barely at the point where I've gotten them to agree to sponsor MUD. The only reason I am able to do GSMTR this year is because we have co-op funds from Toyota advertising so it's not costing the dealer anything. All the expenses for me to go are out of my own pocket. And Onur is def not in a position to do that. Corporate groups want to see return on investment...

Keep up the repairs! Should add some suspension seats real quick. Lol some 5.29s would be great with some new swampers or pitbull rockers!

HA! I've spent enough time and money on this project!

I'll let you take care of that stuff.

Sale still pending. Supposed to go down next weekend. If not, I might give it a go on eBay.

Looks like the sale isn't going through. I am always skeptical of these type of things for this exact reason. Anyway, the truck is still for sale. I will entertain reasonable offers. I have it listed on classifieds and CL here in Atlanta for $5k obo. I will sell to a MUDder for $4k (FIRM, not a penny less) if anyone knows someone looking. If I can get close to my asking price of $5k I would be willing to pay a small finders fee if you refer someone that buys it.

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming!!!

Well I had another potential buyer that backed out. Am I asking too much? If I'm way overpriced I may just have to keep the truck.

Hell Sam that that's reasonable. Most over here in Washington are close to 7k with some cheap ones not goodly modded starting at 3.5k. I wish I had the money to buy this as a rig but sadly I barely have enough the mod mine

Yeah. I just thought there would be a little more interest. I guess I'll just keep it up on CL and classifieds and see what happens.
