Selling a very nice FJ40 for a friend to settle an estate. This truck was the pride and joy of her partner who died suddenly last year. He had Cruiser Solutions in New Hampshire find a restorable 1980 FJ40 for him in January 2006. Invoice shows they charged $2500 for the truck. Subsequent invoices from Cruiser Solutions total more than $55K, yes that's correct. The invoices cover a wide gamut of new parts and work done to the truck, and I have a copy of all the receipts. Looks like the last receipt was dated November 2007 so I assume that's about the time Joe took posession of his 40. A lot of the later receipts show discounted labor pricing I can only assume that Joe was getting a bit concerned about the dollar amount of his investment.
This truck is in excellent condition, a beautiful example of a restored 40. Has an aluminum tub, new OEM Toyota hood and front fenders, full Old Man Emu suspension, Saginaw power steering, and what looks to be the good Manafre header. Also has new OEM full tank and straps, stainless steel clutch, brake, and fuel lines. I've driven it, it gowes down the road nicely, stops as it should, steers well, and the engine has good power and shoes no smoke or bad noises. Outside of the truck is excellent no rust anywhere it was garage kept after the restoration. Interior is excellent, seats are very nice, dash is about perfect. Has a Tuffy console and the interior has been tastefully rhinolined. The rear seat looks like the Conferr folding seat and there is also a (Conferr I think) storage box behind the seat. Neither the console nor the Conferr seat and tool box are in the receipts. In fact, stuff like new tail lights and stuff like that don't show anywhere in the receipts- I'd bet there is more than $60K invested in this truck.
The truck is exceptionally clean inside and out, as wella s under the hood and undercarriage. Engine appears to have epoxy painted and the engine compartment looks original and very nice. Tires are BFG all terrains with like new tread. Has aluminum wheels and an aftermarket front bumper. Everything works- lights, turn signals, hazard lights, parking brake wipers on both speeds, heater fan, horn, etc. Joe had started to install satellite radio in the truck and never finished it. The only glitch I see in the truck is that it has an earlier bib and headlight surround, and I see no explanation for this substitution in any of the CS receipts.
Check out the photos- it's an awesome 40. I can send receipts to anyone seriously interested, my email is shmukter@pa.metrocast.net. Lisa would like to get $30K for the truck, it's located near Reading PA.
