The time has come:(
Up for sale is an amazingly capable representative of the Toyota Landcruiser FJ40 series. Unfortunately, & thanks to JAMES at Cruiserparts.net, who sold me a used fuel pump filled with old, s***ty fuel which then went on to seize my, perfectly running engine. I have a line on a good running power plant (stock.) Or this could be the perfect opportunity to perform a V8 conversion, which I have considered.
It is far from stock, so look elsewhere if that's what you want. I've garage owned this 40 since 1999 and continually looked to improve capability and function. High lights, upgrades and modifications include:
  • Aluminum 4 core radiator
  • Mean green starter
  • New water pump
  • Up and Over roll cage
  • Spray on interior tub liner (in great shape)
  • Original hard top, jump seats, and doors
  • 2 soft tops Best Top in rough shape and a Pakistani factory soft top in great shape
  • This is a superiorly engineered sprung over FJ40 with properly cut and turned front axle. It has excellent handling and the highly elusve and sought after FJ55 springs in the rear with a shackle reversal
  • Rear disc brake conversion
  • ARB lockers front and rear
  • 4X4 Labs steering components over the axle steering arms, oversized tie rods and knuckles, FJ60 size hubs
  • Factory power steering with saginaw pump
  • Warn hi speed winch with 2 controllers (one with flash light)(needs work)
  • Solid frame
  • Body has many dents and bends and is in need of work and paint (not much rust though)
  • 36" Sumper Swamper sx tires
  • Fold down and tumble rear bench seat
  • Tuffy overhead with CB and center consoles
  • Aqualu rear tailgate with storage compartment
  • Dash pad replacement storage box
  • Re-upholsterable, comfortable Acura driver seat
  • Aftermarket tach
  • Grill and brush guard
  • Fabricated skid plate as well as factory one
  • Frame was blasted and painted with POR-15
  • Many spare parts
Do the math. I have about $25,000 invested (with receipts) in this truck & I am in looking to re-coup as much of it as possible but I am realistic (especially since it's not running.) I will consider parting certain items out but would rather not.
Please let me know if you're interested. email gregoryfj40@yahoo.com or call (203) Nine One 3 five 924. Serious inquiries only. I tried to be thorough with pics and description.

I was in the same boat. Your math dictates a part out. It is extra work but you will be able to recoup more of your investment back.

bummer to hear about this, but I don't see how a fuel pump with bad fuel in it could cause an engine to "seize"
does it not spin over? have you pulled the plugs and spun over?
If you engine is actually gone and you found a replacement engine, you would be money ahead by swapping it and having a running rig. it can be done in a weekend.
location helps also

pics would help your cause as well. GLWS
