craigslist 1976 fj40 $5,500

Hey Folks,

I'm selling my '76 FJ40, located in Portland, Oregon. I haven't had it very long. I got it to use as a hunting rig, but decided I need something more practical for longer drives. I also could use the cash flow at the moment.

The good:
It's a solid rig with no major rust issues.
Engine runs good and strong
V8 conversion done correctly
Disk brakes

The bad:
Clutch is slipping, but drive-able
Tires are old
Intermittent fuel leak at the tank, not sure of the source
Cold blooded (carb needs rebuild)
Missing upper dash pad, head rests, and radio

I came 1 hour away from buying this rig, but you must have been the one guy in front of me. Did you do anything to it since you bought it?

I basically went through an electrical tune-up on on it and converted it to electronic ignition. I also did a lot of pressure washing, scraping, and cleaning on the undercarriage to survey the integrity of the body. I found it to be very solid, but with surface rust. So I drove it for a few months and decided I needed something better for the long drives.

Anyways, I just sold it last night. I ended up getting exactly what I paid for it. Wasn't really looking to make a profit on it, just get my money back out for other projects.
