No broken studs? Always a challenge with ex mani

I got it back together with no broken parts. I’m very happy.

@Racer65 carb is on the way.

Got the @Racer65 carb in tonight and popped it on.

Battery was weak so I put on a new one.

Fired up nicely and idled great with the choke

It would not idle without the choke so I checked the idle wire power and it’s got narry so I hot wired it direct. It idles but it’s low. I’d say it needs a little more idle adjustment once I get the power source fixed.

Sounds great with no massive exhaust leak.

Got the air cleaner back on. Ordered a new OEM filter and fan belt from @beno

The belt on this thing is new but as with most people they installed the thin belt so it’s slipping a bit.

Changed the oil. It was full of gas from the bad carburetor. I installed one of my $35 oil filters Beno gave me

Put the best reverse, tail and Licence plate lights I had in my pile on it.

I took the now quiet and freshly tuned Pig for a spin last night.

Even though it idles and revs nicely it really lugs on the road.

I started looking into the usual suspects. Pulled plugs. Dirty but not terrible. Distributor cap and dizzy look good. Wires are good.

Scratch head.

New fuel filter.

Wait. The filter is not full of fuel.

Trace line back to the tank.

Right before the hard line passes under the spare tire crossmember the hard line is smashed almost flat.

That’s got to be the culprit. I’m going to chop that section out and replace it with soft line. Maybe a second fuel filter.

Will report back on Friday.

My man @Glennmerkel sent me a vent. For some reason this is the only item missing in the inside of the swine. I gave it the rust treatment before install.

I also wire brushed and treated this set of OEM wheels I picked up for this project. I’ll be topping them with Rustoleum Smoke Gray before loading them with a new set of 700-15 tires

Whoa those are tiny!

Got the fuel line replaced. Runs better but not perfect. I've got some plugs and wires I'm going to toss at it and see how it drives then.

It's dirty but it looks right with the OEM wheels and 700-15s

You’ve made some great progress. Looking good!

yea...its nuts the crazy wheel and tire selections people make...spend money to make your vehicle less valuable....i don't get it, instantly devalues the vehicle. All the PO of this Pig had to do was put those Buckshots on the stock wheels, no need to spend the money on less attractive wheels.

Pig looks great.

"Value" is a very fuzzy concept.

To me, value is very functional, especially on an off road vehicle.

Mine runs the el cheapo Speedway steelies with 35s, because 35s add value in my off road universe.

When you get bogged down, high centered or otherwise hung up on a rock with that tiny wheel/tire combo, it's less "valuable" than having big tires.

Not all value is monetary, imo.

absolutely. Function is worth quite a bit.

however, I was referencing this particular truck. The non-stock wagon wheels that were on this truck added no value, monetary or functionality, over the stock wheels, yet someone paid money to 'reduce' the value of the truck. Just an interesting bit of human activity.
