1975 FJ40 --SBC TBI HEI runs great in Oregon

SOLD
1975 FJ40
It has the original 4 speed, steering and brakes.

Upgrades/repairs:
Wiring has all been gone through as well as all fuel and coolant lines replaced.
New CCOT steel gas tank (new hoses, sending unit,...)
Electric Taurus fan with temp control and override switch for water crossings
Engine is a rebuilt SBC(NOW DEAD). It is a 1964 283(small block Chevy). I added a HEI ignition and a Holley 2D Pro-jection fuel injection system(including Holley 2d manifold).
New Optima Red Top
custom built alternator
a/f gauge to make tuning easy
new exhaust front to back
New floorboards in front
Rebuilt axles
Hardtop
New master cylinder
New tires and wheels
New Champion 3 row aluminium radiator(not installed)
New side mirrors
HID headlight conversion with glass lenses.
misc.

I bought this thing a few years ago in boxes. I finished it up and it WAS running and driving. The radiator leaks all so I don't drive it long or far. The TBI needs final tuning but it DID start and run. I am used to the f and 2f so this thing has scary power. I focused on making a reliable rig that is going to run great with very little tinkering. The interior is in pretty good shape too.

UPDATE: I was driving it around town and it stopped running. It wont turn over but it isn't dripping oil. I took the valve cover and the intake off and it has a push rod that is missing! I assume it slipped down and is what is holding up the show. I considered a crate shortblock but dont have the time to mess with it and just want it gone.

It has a bumper hitch that is included with it. I have towed with it several times including up and down I5 without any problems.

What's up with the turn signals on the front fenders?

How much rust have you had to repair on the truck?

The turn signals are in the usual location.
As the hole for the turn signal post travels through the fender it is a common spot for 40s to rust. The guy that was working on it at the time is a whiz with electrical but not body. He cleaned up the rust and then took some aluminum pieces and pop riveted it over the holes and put the lights through that. It is 100% functional and will not rust there again but looks different than stock. If it were painted the same color it may not be that noticeable but the black paint and the aluminum plate really kinda stand out.

I did purchase a new Aluminum radiator, NOS side mirrors and some other misc parts. I hope to get a chance to install them some time soon.

The rig runs and drives great. With some tinkering it could run awesome. With the HEI and TBI that rig simply jumps to life without cranking away on the motor.

The fuel pump, brain, and intake for the TBI are NEW.

I also have a black HFS 8274 shackle bumper for it I would throw in. The bumper is still in the box and on my list of things to do that haven't gotten too yet. it is this one:
Bumper HFS™

Still for sale!

Will consider trades for adventure trailer, military trailer(1/4 or 3/4 ton).

Also trades for contractor work if someone is in the area and wants to pay for it that way. I need some roofing, painting, flooring, plumbing, carport, landscaping..... My house is a money pit!

Also trade for mechanic work. If someone wanted to throw time into my 55 I could certainly part with the 40.

I'd consider that if it were once a week...long drive to and from and gas isn't cheap.

What kind of flooring? Will you be supplying the material? Interior or exterior painting? Do you just not have the time for the 55?

I don't have time for the flooring or the 55!

The 55 needs someone who know how to weld. The house needs some flooring, roofing, a chimney removed, and some other misc projects.

Flooring I can do. Welding I can do. What kind of flooring, hardwood, laminate, carpeting??? Why not keep the 40 and do it yourself...weekend warrior.
