Hello all,

1974 Fj40 with a 4.7 Toyota Sequoia V8

I have about 10,000 miles on the swap and it cruises beautifully on the highway:

Clean title
Smog exempt
4.7 Toyota Sequoia V8
Toyota 4-speed auto
Inchworm adapter kit
‘83 Toyota gear driven T-case 23 spline input shaft
CV driveshafts
Ford 9 inch rear end w/ 4:11 gears
HI-steer kit
Mini-truck steering knuckles
Roll cage
Saginaw Power steering
Front Disk brakes
Painless Wiring
KM2’s 35x12.50x15
BMW functional power seats
Man a Fre safari springs 4 inch lift
Shackle reversal kit
Bilstein shocks
Hard top / Bikini top
Half doors included

Bad:

Rust near the rear corners and front fenders where the PO attempted to eliminate turn signals and did a poor job. Frame is in solid shape.
Sequoia Gauge cluster isn't mounted completely.
Parking/Neutral switch will need to be replaced.
Oil leaks.
Weatherstripping can be tighter so that wind draft can quiet the ride.
Speedometer and fuel gauges are not accurate.
Front driveshaft has a vibration at highway speeds.

Despite newer drivetrain, it’s still an old rig. Please do not expect the comforts of an 80/100 series. It’s been a never ending project of 10+ years. Despite all the stuff that will need attention, it is reliable and really fun to drive. I’ve driven it as is the last 3 years. It idles beautifully and a fairly quiet ride. Wind drafts is what annoys me the most, but just haven’t made weatherstripping a priority.

I think $11,500 is a fair price to fix the issues and finish it to ones comforts. Or simply drive it as is.

Reason for sale: with a baby on the way, I’m looking to fund a RHD Diesel 80. Just more practical for my needs. So I will also entertain trades for an HDJ81 and can put cash on top.

any pics of the rust involvement in rear? is this toyota 4spd auto from a 60 or from a Sequioia? what kind of mpg have you averaged on trips/ hwy/city cruising?

It is the original sequoia automatic trans.
I have averaged about 15mpg combined usually at 70-75mph on the highway.
