I have searched and find conflicting answers. Was headrest an option in 1974 or did it come later? I found a nice set of seats but they do not have the metal plate on the back. Was that also an option and does any company still have the plate available? thanks

Headrests were an option on the '74 U.S. model.
I think the metal seat back is stock on all '74 bucket seats -- not an option. Your's must have been lost along the way. Your best bet is looking in the MUD classifieds. Other options are SOR (used) or cruiserparts.net (used).
