Ive got the stock heater in my 72. How do you keep the defrost flapper from moving down by itself. Theres not much tension on the flapper and road bumps and wind pressure push it down away from the defrost position. Any ideas?

Thanks,

I rebuilt my heater box last week and don't have pics of the diverter hinge or I would post it. Mine is a '71, but I think your's is the same. You need to dissassemble the box by removing the left side. There are then 4 screws that hold the diverter frame in place. Remove it and you will have access to the diverter hinges. The hinge is held at each end by clips that are screwed into the frame. You need to tighten these screws then put it all back together.

If you are going to that much effort I recommend rebuilding the whole unit... Not hard to do.

I linked to your index page. So many good articles there! After re-reading your horn repair just now I am going to attempt to resurect mine again. First round didn't produce any sound, but maybe I had a gap at the points... Don't remember.

Now move to Seattle so I can have someone to work on FJ projects with!
