Quadruplets - my '71 FJ40's build date is also 12/70, and may eventually be painted the same color as this one. My '71 is the one on the right side of the photo <----. The other one is my '76.
My 2/1971 was also Spring Green from the factory. I am just down the road from you in Paint Lick, KY! I would buy that truck as is, do the mechanical stuff, put a coat of wax on it, and drive it only on sunny days for the rest of it's life!
Wow! What a beauty!
you should stop by sometime.
Hey quick question, I have a 1969 FJ40 and just did the brakes, I noticed that you have the springs for the brake shoes both behind the brake shoes. I have the FSM and it shows one behind and one infront of the brake shoes, but then Ive seen conflicting information regarding the spring placement. Just trying to figure out whats the correct way to place the springs. Love the color of your truck too!
Pleasant surprise removed valve cover and look how clean it is
Man that’s a sharp 40! Can’t wait to see it again once you’ve rejuvenated it.
thanks for those pics deo, i have to find the caps at toyota i forgot they were on the truck. i guess that is what happens when u let stuff set to long.
PM me with an address/cell # and I will try to stop by sometime and see your trucks.
Another 9/70 Spring Green 40
Bryan, the brake adjuster slot is backwards. Also, the brake return springs should be one inside, one outside, to avoid having the shoes trying to flop hard off to the inside. And the brake nails and springs are missing.
Jim, great eyes as always all corrected now. Thanks so much.
Motor is cleaning up nice, but the carb shows it has been sitting for 30 years. Where is Jim when u need him.
Tried to upload a video of it running for the first time in years. But it won’t let me. Really smooth
