Jeebus - they bought out all the flat gray at Home Depot...

Bezel Police.... looks like they are already there, processing the scene.

If it weren’t for the upside down bezel, this would be a great deal!

Why didn't they primer the tires?

Because they got burned off with the rest of the soft stuff (rim on steering wheel, turn signals, seat cushions, etc) that went up in smoke in the fire. Wasn't this rig FS on CL after the fire but before the primer got slathered everywhere? Dunno, just looks familiar ... One of those things that makes ya go "hmmm ...".

If anyone is seriously interested I'm more than happy to check this thing out and get the scoop on it.

Any details on the fire you mentioned? I actually just bought this FJ. The seller's mechanic mentioned that some stuff was melted in a fire.. Curious the history of it if u have any more details? Thx!!

Sorry, I just remember seeing an ad for a 40 that was clearly burned up, and it was located out your way (here in the east it would have rusted into oblivion quickly). The pic was taken within a short period after the fire, just surface rust, very even (meaning the rust was all the same age, not heavy in places and light elsewhere - it was all relatively light). That truck was an earlier rig, very complete, but sadly, toasted. That's all I remember. Post some pics!

I ended up paying $5500 for it. Pretty much rust free. Windshield was bent and hood a little banged up. Took off frame and going over it from top to bottom. Mechanical seems pretty solid so far.

Nice work @Dballs77. Be sure to post up a build thread in the 40's section so we can watch your progress!

Trying to decide on the top to put on.. think was originally a soft top so trying to find good option for that. Thoughts? Going to paint it cadet blue and corral interior.
