Greetings all,

Selling my 1970 FJ40. In trying to keep it as original as I could here is a list of the original equipment it has:

F series engine (overhauled in 2007)
Original 3 speed transmission with column shifter
Original transfer case
Original (re upholstered) rear jump seats
Original body (restored and repainted)
Original hard top (repainted)
Working front and rear heater

Upgrades and Aftermarket additions:

Off frame restoration
Custom Paint
Re-wired with Painless aftermarket fuse box
Interior rhino lined
Steering wheel (from 1980 Toyota Tercel)
Driver and Passenger seat (from same 1980 Toyota Tercel)
Tuffy lockbox center console

I purchased this vehicle in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2007. PO had it in desert southwest for at least the previous 10 years (according to him). Since I have been the owner it hasn't left New Mexico. Like all FJ's it had the typical rust spots. During restoration the rust spots were cut out and replaced with new steel or POR 15. The undercarriage and frame were treated with undercoating.
Selling for $10,500

I have the spector bikini top that is on it now and the original hard top that I normally put on in the fall. It was painted with the rest of the parts in 2008. The actual roof I left primer simply because I never got around to painting it white. Also it doesn't have a headliner.

The diamond plating came with the vehicle. I think the original owner put it on to hide the rust holes it had in the rear fenders. I had those repaired prior to getting it painted. I put them back on since I hadn't seen many other cruisers with them.

BUMP to the top - thinking of putting my cruiser on ebay. Would like some opinions on whether I am asking too much. The problem with doing restoration is that I know how much time and money went into making the vehicle what it is today but that doesn't always convert to real money. So any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My .02.....you have a very nice looking rig and you've put a lot of work into it but around here diamond plating is exactly what you described.....a rust cover. Although you may have repaired it all, it still makes anyone just looking at the pictures think RUST. If you want to pull $8k - $10k for your truck your best bet is going to be ebay. And you were right about the resto not converting to money. This addiction is definitely a labor of love........GLWS.

There's probably a good reason for that. DP belongs on a Jeep.
