I want to put front disk brakes on my 1969 FJ40. I am presently in the parts gathering stage now.

Is it better to do the mini truck conversion, or get the parts off of a say a 1979 FJ55?

I know I have to upgrade brake lines and master cylinder as well, plus the firewall issues (I have a later model firewall I plan to graft in).

you dont need a whole fire wall just cut the brace drill some holes and bolt in the new master .i used a mini truck booster on my 69 and master and mini truck disks .when my fj62 rotted out i put them on my 69 probably the same thing .i used 79 steering arms so i could use the stock tie rod setup good luck

If you look in the 45 forum, you will see three rigs that I've installed a firewall adapter onto that does not require cutting the brace.

And I have disc brake conversion parts ready to go in boxes.:grinpimp:

You will have to either shim the later FJ60-62 steering arms to fit the FJ40 tie rod ends or replace the TREs with ones that will fit the FJ60-62 steering arms.

With all the conversion parts out there, I've always wondered why no one (to my knowledge) has told their Chinese manufacturer to make some TREs that thread into an FJ40 tie rod AND fit the holes in the later steering arms.

What do you want for them?

and what do they include?
