ThanksThis is a nice driver! I like the color and the patina.
My guess is it will go for closer to $10-$12k... maybe more. BAT seems to get top dollar.
The motor and trans are not original. They are upgraded to the newer 2F and 4 speed. Looks like it still has drum breaks. Thanks
I’d like to find something similar to this but I’d want it all original not hacked . A driver as well but something that I can fix as I go which seems to be what everyone does. I seem to like the later 60’s fjs. It would be something we can use and not be scared to scratch a littleThe motor and trans are not original. They are upgraded to the newer 2F and 4 speed. Do you have any specific questions?
What is your budget? Goals?

I figured this one wasn’t original because the dash plate has it as a three speed. As far as budget I’d like to be around 8 grand.
I think I’d like a late 60’s model fj and would like it to be original not hacked up. Thanks for the input, I do appreciate it!Dang......you live in Texas. That place seems be birthing FJ40's. Take your time. Also, do you want a Federal FJ40 (U.S) or one that has been imported from South America?......Don't be in a hurry as the others have mentioned. When you get in a hurry and buy wrong, regret is around the corner. I only do factory stock so it isn't an easy task to find the right one at a reasonable price. You may be a little on the shy side with your funds but do not lose hope.
I'd buy this one if still available and I didn't have so many projects on the back burner.

Texas is where I do most of my searches because, even though I live in Alabama, I can get cheap direct flights to Dallas. I was looking at this one on BaT as well because I live within 1.5 hours of it BUT I'm out of the country and can't look at it. I watched the videos and can't tell if the noise I hear when he shifts are abnormal. I'm willing to pay more for one in better shape so I should probably just keep hunting like some on here have said. I'm not in a hurry...I keep trying to tell myself. What inevitably happens is I buy something and, a week later, a better deal pops up.Dang......you live in Texas. That place seems be birthing FJ40's. Take your time. $8k was going to be my max, and I wouldn’t have even sniffed winning. I’m in no hurry, and I’m willing to travel. I really want a less rusty body...just a body that doesn’t need major attention for a few years. I travel too much right now to pull one apart. I know I’ll pay more, and that’s ok. And while it’s blaspemous to say on here...if I find a Scout II that I like, I may go that route.I thought it would go for around $12K. As I mentioned above, BaT seems to get premium prices.
To answer your question... I would not pay $12k for it and would be glad to get $12k if I were the seller, but i think it is fair price. For someone looking for a "late 1960's FJ40" with some nice upgrades and a solid driver, this is a good option. If I were in the market, I probably wouldn't have payed more that $8k-$9k for it, but I am stingy.and I am usually willing to wait to find a good deal.
If you are willing to wait, travel, and flexible on your options and price. You can find these kind of deals out there. $8k-$12K drivers with minimal rust.
Good Luck!
