Not a whole lot to report tonight. I spent some time just cleaning up the roof, wiped it down several times with DX330. Shot one good coat of DP50LF on it and around the drip edge.

Also welded up those little holes on the inside and shot a coat of primer on my ground spots, no pics of that though.

Body man buddy called today, pushed me back to Saturday afternoon. He got behind and helping me doesn't take priority over paying customers :D

So, might take tomorrow night off and then up to his place on Saturday.

I am enjoying your thread so much, where can I view the house build-up thread?

That one would take up a lot of space over a lot of time. I don't try that hard anymore on the house, got burnt out on that a few years ago......

I hit a few projects in there every now and again just to make sure I'm keeping the wife happy ;)

Hey....

Things are looking great Matt!!! The retaining wall is really nice man...

Keep up the GREAT WORK!

Mind Blowing! Your work on this project is beyond impressive!
I am very interested in seeing the final product. Are you the first to put parabolics on an LV, or are there others out there? Thanks for all the work on your writeup, for those of us viewing at home.

I think I am the first to put parabolics on an LV, don't quote me on that though?? I know there are several who have put them 45 pick ups and are happy with them. The concept and idea of the spring seems to make sense to me, hopefully they work good :)

Thanks, Matt

Some day that hood is going to get cleaned up and change color and you won't be able to recognize it.....but you will still know where it came from.

Let me know when your coming up. Hopefully it's on a weekend, spend a little more time b.s.'n, might even put you to work. ;)

If it stays around $950 I'll take it ;) But, I'm guessing that lv will sell in the 3k to 5k range by the time the auction is done.

I am actively and agresively looking for a FJ45lwb for my next project. I would like to build up somewhat of a stocker for the pickup. Minor upgrades, disc brakes, 2F w/ 4 spd., but for the most part stock.

Hopefully I will come across one reasonably priced. Got a guy south of me actively looking for me also, hopefully he will come across one ;)

Thanks for keeping an eye out for me, Matt

Matt... I can no longer read through this thread in 2 hours... When you send it to the press... is it going to be hard cover or soft?

Looking great.. was suprised to see another whole page added in a weeks time... BEAUTIFUL truck! But, your wife isnt as hot as mine! aha ahuhu (but she is hot)

when I read that you were going to put the lv in mud... a tear came to my eye. Damn.. feel like flying out for the unveiling of your LV... are you going to throw a party? If you provide the dark beer, I will buy the ticket and make the trip... Seriously.

We'll.............had a bit of an incident today guys. I actually debated whether I should post anything about this or what happened. I talked to a couple friends about it and I came to conclusion that if I didn't get into any details and no graphic photo's that it really wasn't a problem, so............on with a brief description of how today went.

Got up to my body man buddy's place later in the afternoon and got the LV unloaded in his shop. After looking it over a little bit wondering where we should start we decided to take one of the doors off and start there. So, as you can see in one of the pics, door off, ground down and ready for mud and to be blocked out.

Now, I don't know if I ever mentioned this, but I am a private pilot and own my own airplane. My body man buddy is also a private pilot that owns his own airplane, probably why were such good friends. Ocassionally when your a pilot and are involved in aviation, friends of yours will buzz over your house and give you a wing wag or something like that. Shortly after I got there today a plane flew over low, no big deal, been there before at his place when lots of planes have flown over to just say hi. We walked outside to see who it was and give'm a wave.

As were watching the person who we both know fly over, something terrible happened. I won't go into any details because I think the pics explain it all, an accident occured in front of his house (my friend also lives on the lake if I have never mentioned that). I personally spent the next 2 1/2 hours invloved in a very intense accident extracting 2 people (who I knew personally) from this aircraft accident. Again, I won't go into any details, but both people were seriously injured and a very graphic scene to say the least.

When it was all done, I had been in the water for over an hour, involved with the EMT's for another hour and a half and I was shaken up and wet. Needless to say we decided to call it a day.

So, I hope I didn't offend anyone by posting this and off course I didn't post any graphic pics or details. I debated whether to even mention it?

If anyone is personally offended by this or thinks that it is inappropriate, post it immediatly and I will remove it.

So, the plan is to head back up there tomorrow and try again.

Thanks, Matt

Thank God that everyone is still alive..

CRAZY

I hope everybody made it out okay and alive, was that a plane that can land on water or was it an accident involving a plane with normal landing gear?

Plane had standard wheel landing gear, no floats, it was not attempting to land.

Everyone is alive. I did call my body man buddy tonight and he made some calls to find out how they are doing. Both people were life flighted out of the regional hospital this evening into a larger metro hospital. From the sounds of it, both are going to make it, but not without some surgery.

I will admit, both my friend and I after watching it happen thought the absolute worst.......

wow that is quite a day. I am glad they are going to be alright. my dad was a fighter pilot in the Navy, my Grandmother still complains about the fly by's. but i also remember friends loosing there dads. Flight can be a fickle friend I hope it all turns out alright.

Got up to my buddy's place today about 8 am. Took a little while to get going, since we talked about the day before's events that took place.

Not a ton of pics, but not a ton to show. We worked over the doors a bit and then started applying the plastic. I know, I know, in the pics it looks like, what in the hell are you doing. But, it's apply filler and then sand it all off. Takes several coats and lots of sanding, but you end up with a perfectly straight panel, and at best we have about a 1/16" of filler in some areas.

Keep in mind also, that all of the metal work I did......This LV was one bent up piece of junk!! It is impossible for me to get every panel perfect with just metal work, I'm not that good. I can get it only so close and then have to get it the rest of the way with a paper thin coat of filler.

So, only 2 doors got done today, the plan is to hit it again next Friday night and then through the weekend. Hopefully more gets done.......just that those other events occured on Saturday that required attention.

We also got busy today pulling the aircraft from the water, since were the only people there. The FAA had called my budy earlier that morning and asked if we could remove the aircraft, they were going to be up Monday to investigate.
Anyway, that took a couple hours out of the day also. I alos got a cd this afternoon from one of the neighbors up there. They were taking pics the whole time this was happening and I didn't even see them? I won't be posting any of them, but very weird looking at them today?

Included a pic of the aircraft on land now just after we pulled it from the water, bad.........
