With the radiator out while the water pump is getting shipped back to me, I had way too much time on my hands…so I started painting the the front. The doors and everything behind the doors was professionally painted at some point and the front was faded….so…took it apart and started painting. Rustoleum Farm and Implement. It’s is a very close match to the rear. Looks much better, but not quite done yet. I’ll need to do the hood and windshield frame at some point. Eventually I’ll get it done properly, but this will work for now.

Also replaced all hardware, painted the radiator surround, etc. and replaced the side plate gasket.

Started to put the radiator all together and snapped a clamp that got bonded so will have on e Tuesday from Yota. Water pump arrives Monday. Replaced all coolant hoses and the upper hose on/off valve for the heater.

Let’s hope I can get this thing going again…plan is to fill it with water and drive it for a few days checking for any leaks and then drain it again (block too) and fill with coolant. Fingers crossed.

I would love to get mine re-chromed. I put chrome door hinges and I have the rear door hinges as well…whenever I can get the bolts out that are painted over. Also have windshield hinges on chrome but can’t get one older hinge off bc the bolts are frozen

Picked up an induction heater... one full cycle on the capture nuts and the hinge screws started to turn!

I’m too far past that. I started to try to drill them out as some people said that should work. It didn’t. So now there are some big holes in them. Going to have a welder swing by and see if he can weld a bolt to them and wrench it. Worst case I’ll grind the heads off, drill holes and put in in rivnuts or something.

Rebuilt water pump came in today. FIPG 103 for both gaskets. Torqued the 4 bolts to 15 ft lbs.

Need to pick up one more clamp from Toyota as I broke one of the Yota clamps the other day. That will give the sealant time to adhere/dry and then I’ll fill it with water tomorrow…let it sit for a few days, drive it for a little bit and examine for leaks. Drain the block and radiator…then fill with coolant. The petcock that comes with the Yota radiator is clutch.

Toyota Radiator: 16400-49356
Thermostat for tall housing: 90916-03014
New hoses/gaskets/clamps

Fingers crossed that it doesn’t leak in 10 places when I fill it up. I’m a little nervous, but I torqued everything properly, used proper sealant, etc.

Only took a year to get 3 bolts out of the DS windshield hinge. Tried everything. Finally took a hacksaw and sawed a groove and then used a hammer and chisel.

End result, I was able to get my DS chrome hinge on and also swap out my mirror arms. The other pair of arms were the SOR-type I believe…you can see how those mounted in the first pic.

Have a cracked tube coming off the carb insulator yo the PCV valve. Used JB Weld high heat putty…hardened overnight and now no movement on the hose. Hopefully eliminated any potential vacuum leak.
