So, I'm debating keeping the 2004 MPFI on the 4.3. If I do that I can then use a 4l60E transmission instead of the 700R4 I currently have.

Is there a good reason to swap the 700R4 out for the 4L60E?
I have to reflash the computer to lose the fuel tank sensor and the alarm system anyway, so losing the tranny control is no big deal.

@orangefj45 do you have a recommendation?

Thanks!

If the engine came with the 4L60e trans ( a 2004 is a 4L65e ) then I'd run it.
They're super reliable, the case and planetaries are actually stronger than the TH700 and no pesky "tv-valve sticking".

Thanks Georg. I think the motor came with an auto but am not sure. I do not currently have the computer or harness. So, if I hunt for one at the junkyard I can pick up the one I need.

Cool!

Been almost a year, still sitting on this one?

Motor will likely get placed Sunday.

Rear suspension is in. As soon as the motor is in place I'll get the front axle in (hopefully it will go in the stock location) and weld up the links.

The gauges I get from Speedhut are freaking awesome.

Well looky there.
