In post #6, Coolerman's 'Stovebolt'-starter has a solenoid with an unused R-terminal, which goes to the coil, akin to Mark's description of the '73-'78 F/2F "exciter-wire." Interesting, I wonder if the pinon gear is out-of-specs regarding the Toyota flywheel ring-gear? A remanufactured AC Delco, w/o a $25 core-deposit is $62.79 online, lol.
Has anyone rebuilt their Nippon Denso starter? Specs call for replacement brushes if the free length is less than .5-inch / 13mm. Looking at the replacements on the internet, there is no way that even the new ones are going to protrude from the brush holder with those dimensions? I have about .4-inch of free length of brush, at best.
