Hey,

My 60 is already set up with a 14b ff rear axle that has disc brakes but no ebrake. I was planning to go the AA atlas xfer pinion ebrake route till I found these.

Eldo calipers w the ebrake are usually big bucks up here for some reason especially if you dont have a core and these seem more than reasonably priced.

So the question is, how would you go about hooking the ebrake cables up? I was thinking of using a stock 60 cable from the stock ebrake handle to wherever it would reach (not familiar with the oe 60 cable set up) then finding a set to run to the calipers. I have a set of tacoma cables I could use as a starting point.

A buddy just did this on his tj with a d60 rear end and it seems to work great for him...

Any advice and or input is appreciated.

I dont know if the cable would be long enough on the axle itself.. I dont know how long the rear axle you got is...but the 80's e-brake is about 6" longer than that of an 60 series and it bolts right up to the 60's floor..

don't waste your money .. I got that caliper setup in the rear of Tencha ( from TSM MFG ) and are useless .. I spend good $$$ trying several cables and setup and never manage to make 'em work ( hold Tencha even at silly inclinations ) they work great as regular caliper .. just the e-brake seems to be not strong enough ..

my .002 cents ..

Yeah eh? Ill have to look at my buddies set up and ask how its workin for him.

Thanks for the replies.

Might go with the atlas pinion e brake after all.

I have an e-brake on the back of my Orion HD that from Jesse that I've never finished - need a cable. Not to highjack - but if you go with the Atlas brake - be interested to see what cable you use :D.

I was gonna try the stocker 60 cable but now Im hearing the atlas brake dont work too great.... Im still in limbo on the whole issue. You can see it on the Advance adaptor web site or the high angle driveline page.

Best e-brake: Put it in gear and shut the engine off. Make sure your engine has adequate compression for the hill you are parking on....

Bummer with this is that a lot of events require a mechanical pbrake.

That xeng dealie looks kinda like the atlas pinion one no?

Im not too worried about having a parking brake, its the whole emergency thing thats got me wanting a mech back up. When my brake booster went i got a taste of what no brakes on a ginormous van in traffic felt like..... ive also blown a line on 2 seperate occasions on my80 (before i smartened up and changed all the hard lines). The 80 is auto which makes trying to get it stopped even more fun. E breke came in handy there i tell you what.

Still have to talk to my buddy w the eldo set up to get his impressions now that hes wheeled it a bit.

I thought it's just a matter of caliper size used .. in the case of Eldo or those t-case e brake kits offered by TSM .. IMOP they are just plain too small to hold close to 6K with 40" Cruiser ..
