Once upon a time a guru re-wired the intake heater because it stayed on for a long time, then stopped working.

its been working fine since, however, I would like to know more about this piece.

does it look normal for 300K +

Any suggestions on tidying it up? Supposedly only a small section works now...

The batteries are out of the truck so I can’t test it with the meter right now, but will in the future.

Looks fairly normal to me (at least that what’s mine looked like when I removed it).

I’m not sure how only part of it would work, it’s a pretty basic design where if electricity is flowing the whole bar will get hot.
Try some carb cleaner or maybe soak in diesel for a few hours, get any battery to test it (ideally use a running car with jump leads).

I’m with you on part of it working. There is where I’m confused.

appreciate the cleaning method and test method recommendation.

My only comment is, why test with the engine running as suggested in post #2? They are generally
utilized with straight battery power, not enhanced with running alternator output. Mine whines when I
hit the switch, it’s a 24V converted to 12V use. I’m not sure but it seems to work on rare occasion I use it.
Webasto install pretty much negates it’s use now.
