If you need to convert that 24v starter, talk to Georg at Valley Hybrids. I know you can take the starter motor from a 12v 2L and swap the nose cone with the 24v motor on a 2H starter. I wonder if you could do the same with the 12H-T. I think he told me NAPA has the 2L starters for about $200.

From memory I used my old 2h starter on a 12ht conversion with no issue what so ever

Quick update:
Taking the 12v starter into town tomorrow morning to get checked out. Should be done in a few days.

Also I got busy on tidying up the alternator wires, here is a picture of how I have them setup:

In the fsm and electrical diagram for the 12h-t there are 4 letters S,L,IG & B as seen here (ignore the writing, it was inaccurate):

Here is the way I wired it up:

Okay so you can see that the plug on the internal regulator has the wires (red, white, and blue) then the post is where (B+) from the fusible link on the positive battery post is connected.

I went with ( "S" the split off from B+) to the blue wire on the alt, ("IG" or ignition switch wire) to the white wire on the alt, and then ("L" or the charge light) to the red wire on the alt.

It was hard to find references on this online, but I feel pretty confident that I have it right orientation.

**Before I hit the ignition switch does anyone have any objections to how I went about this?** I'd rather be safe than sorry plus the alternator cost a pretty penny.

And on a side note why in the world did Toyota decide not to put the 12ht into the FJ60 series?! If it has as much bite as it does bark, then I can say with confidence that it's going to be a killer setup.

If your handy with auto electrical, thats good for you, if were me I would get a auto sparky to give it a once over to ensure your ducks are I a row, considering it's a fj60 petrol harness fitting a deisel donk, it's easy to lost in absorbing the detail of what is what where to where,

I wouldnt bank on it being a race car, mine is a DD and it shuffles along nicely with plenty of ability to lug along in 4th gear doing 1100rpm but its definately not fast

You've obviously never had the privilege of driving behind the wheel of the highly sought after 2f... haha. I know it won't be fast, these rigs have the aerodynamics of a tank plus the big meats and extra metal do not help the cause.

I am told it is the best combination the 12H-T and the H55f. Congrats on getting it all running.
It might not be the fastest to 100ks but you can tow a van at the same time!
Well done.

I appreciate it sir! I've been wanting to swap a diesel since I got the keys at 16. Very glad that I went with the 12ht instead of a cummins, isuzu, etc. It just seems right at home in the bay.

I'm learning as I go with this... So no not very handy. When I go to the alt/starter shop in the morning I am going to carry in an extra 12ht alternator that I have in the shop and get the guy to look over how I have it wired up just to be safe.

A 2h in any condition is slower

Alternator is hooked up and working properly, 12V starter is hooked up and I can now start it up with the key. Also the tach and gauges work properly.

I still need to wire up the turbo lights and the glow screen, but other than that the electrical side of the swap is complete (sigh of relief). Big thanks to everyone that gave advice for the starting situation, funny thing was the Armature was installed the wrong way and the stator was still wired 24V in the "12V" starter. A quick $100 fix and now I am back in business.

The next few days I am going to try and get the glow screen at least put in the right spot so that I can wrap up the harness and take it for a short test drive. I cannot wait!

Here is a decent video:

Engine bay wiring is complete, next step is to conquer the dash. Should be 100% within the next week.

This motor pulls so much better than the 2f did...

Looks good sounds sweet. Its unmistakable that 12ht sound

Thanks niffa! I don't thing the sound will ever get old to me. Still need to run a 3" pipe back, I have the stock 2.5" cut off by the transmission right now.

They do have a unique sound, I love the when the waste gate opens up between shifts...

Yep its pretty sweet. Now what u need to do is get a manual bleed boost controller and wind the boost up to about 12ish psi and unwind the ON boost fuel screw about a turn...once you have a pyro guage that is. Should unleash a couple more raging stallions for you

Ya gauges first... I have looked into the boost controllers, that is on the list. Did it create a noticeable difference?

Yea it did. Not race car difference but a bit snappier

Ya not expecting to break the sound barrier in this brick... It does scoot along nice though. I took it out on a hill today that would bring my 2f from 65mph in 5th gear to 45mph in 4th gear, the 12ht held it well at 60mph.

Update: I've put around 220 road miles on the swap so far and I landed 18.9mpg on my first fill up! I'm pretty happy with that considering I wasn't very conservative with my right foot... It's already a big improvement from the 2f where I averaged around 11mpg.

Speaking of improvements here is a quick video that I took yesterday showing how the old girl handled a hill climb at 75mph. Very happy with this.

My bosh alternator that I ordered from AUS ended up being a bad unit. It worked for a few hours then stopped working completely. So... I have to send that one back and hopefully the seller will comply with the 5 year warranty and get me a good one. I have a spare to use in the meantime.

Other than that I am just enjoying the hell out of driving this rig, oh and contemplating what gauges to get first. I am thinking water temp, oil pressure and boost. I like the ISSOPRO gauges (mechanical). And then I need to get an exhaust welded up.

That's really it with the swap. I want to say thank you again to all that helped and chimed in on here and through PMs. I know I was probably annoying the hell out of a few guys via PMs but the help and insight was greatly appreciated. This was a huge learning experience for me and I am honestly already antsy to do another swap. Luckily in my case my dad has put me in charge of swapping in his mint 12ht into its new home before I head back to college this January, so I will be busy.
