12.5s on a 6" rim?

I had 33x10.5 on stock wagon wheels for 32,000 miles. I did the 255/85-16 on a 16x6 and the truck drives far better that before. Until you drive a factory approved wheel and tire combo with a proper sidewall, you don't know what you're missing.

I did it and it can be done, but it's not ideal.

The diameter should be similar on both of your tires. The 255 is around 10.0 so the new tire was a little thinner but it sounds like the difference was the sidewall and your PSI. What is your tire pressure now on the 255s?

The 12.5s are rated at a lower load capacity vs. the 10.5s. This seems a little strange to me, but it sounds like they may have a beefier sidewall.

The 255/85r16 is 32.5x10.3 and the 33x10.5 was 10.8x31.
I started at 32 and they were great. Currently at 45 with no ride quality change and a proper contact patch. Handling and steering feel is far improved.
