Never really make it over to the 100 section, but saw the Moab post.

I can recommend 2 things:

Make the trip from the East if at all possible.

Take a trail that Far leads, gave a no BS assessment for those who had never been on the trail, led the trail through snow, hail, rain and sun all on the same day. He even drove the trail gunner's 40 off the trail after the clutch went out. (I think that's when his wife got to take all the difficult lines in the 100!)

Good people, good time!

To Utahfj62. I ain't skerd.....Oh well scratch KC for CM.

EDIT: Due to post below, I'm back on!

I'm not saying don't do it - its a great trail, a ton of fun with about 50 river crossings - you basically are in the river bed 85% of the trail - just make sure you are 100% aware of the weather within a 100 mile radius of Moab when you run it.

just another plug for the east coasters - I hitched a ride out there when Sean from NC took his 40 out there...made some repairs before we even hit the trails and had a great time. Met up with Beno and Spresso and had an awesome time (even without one of my rigs)

Yes, it is a hell of a drive - but with two people driving, we left sunday afternoon from Virginia and by Monday night, we were in Vail. YOU CAN DO IT! :grinpimp:

I've been to lots of other events - Moab is put on by a great club and is an event like no other. Much better than GSMTR even in its hayday IMHO.

Does anyone have any thoughts on an overnight? How did last year at the Swell go? I'm thinking Needles District/White Rim or similar.

If I go I'm totally down for the overnight. I'll also stay at BFE if I go, I liked the out of town-ness.

We spent some time in the North and South portions of the Swell last year on a pre-CM 10 trip and it was super. Also depending on the vehicles the Hole in the Rock trail is a super nice 3-day'r...but not kind for ill prepared rigs.

I'll second this advice. I was on this run with Far as well. One hell of a leader and a hell of a nice guy. He had to put up with alot on that run and he handled all of it. I was pretty green in Moab to begin with but we had a Diff blow out on a...vehicle, the clutch as mentioned, the weather, two winch outs, man...that was fun. Far, I can't thank you enough for your patience that day.

If you haven't been, go at least once. Hopefully the weather will be better as the wind was a killer for camping. That being said, I'd love to come out in the "new to me" 100 but it's bone stock.

285s and step sliders and you can do a lot of these trails just fine.

So, has anyone come up with a schedule of events for the hundy's? First time for me so I'm looking for recommendations.

Who is actually going to make it this year?

Yeah, look back at my post #8, the guy from NM (far left in photo) was :steer: stock w/285s and running boards removed, on Fins n Things. ;)

Your hitch will get a workout though.

Was your hitch damaged by the video camera ?

I bent My trailer wiring connector 90 degrees and put some gouges in the hitch receiver on my trip.

wow skidoo, I think that was my camping neighboor. I am so impressed by what these trucks can do. If I can talk the wife into it, I'll be back. Do you guys think a 175k mile hundy can haul a FJC out there without trouble?

3rd cruiser, read the trail ratings and choose your comfort level. Wheeling in Moab in pretty 100 series friendly. Sliders are more important than tires. Street tires wheel great in Moab. Elephant Hill and Hell's Revenge are a couple of my personal favorites for an event like CruiseMoab.

Yep, checked out trail ratings and descriptions. Just was hoping to do some runs with you and other 100 series owners.
