100 TD said:Although the V8 may have more power, the 1HD-FTE engine is good for 200 hp and chipped it produces 231 hp, standard torque is 317ft/lb and 381 chipped, so you probably could put up with that I expect, it will be interesting if they bring out the 4.4 litre 299hp 440ft/lb engine in 2007/08 as rumoured
100 TD said:Yes I can understand your love for the gas guzzlers, and I know they are smooth, but amazingly the 1HD-FTE is extremely smooth and doesn't have that chunky rattle of a truck engine, and I expect you would be suprised if you drove one. I wonder if and when NA are going to allow more diesels into the market and supply diesel at more gas stations. Where is diesel available, mainly at truck stops on the highways?
ShottsUZJ100 said:I wouldn't take the TD IN A UZJ100 if it had 1000HP. The 100 is too good a ride...too smooth...and too quiet to trash it. I'll throw that TD into my LX450 in a heartbeat!
mabrodis said:The Cruiser gets scoffed with the power it has now, think about if it had less, or they went back to a diesel and a slower vehicle, it would be a huge mistake for Toyota to make...atleast in the US. Now to make it available via special order, that's a different issue, and I think that's what Toyota should do, make many of these options available via special order only, so the dealerships still carry their normal alotment of luxo ones, but you could order almost anything, would take several months to get, etc..that's fine, but make it available.
FirstToy said:That article you are highlighting concluded that the V8 was the better choice over the TD.
The TD costs $12,000 more than the V8.

I would love a TD but the price of entry is hard to swallow...

Agreed. I'm sure you know already but Manefre sells the OEM sub tanks every once in awhile. ARB also makes some auxilary fuel tanks. Pricey they are.NMuzj100 said:The range for the gas V8 w/o the optional fuel tank is really pretty pitiful. I wish we could get those tanks here.
