VS ? ...

I thought they were the same vehicle with different body panels ;)

Different vehicles through and through - like comparing a Suburban and Tahoe. Even if you compare the top of the line Sequoia to an LC, it just isn't as refined a ride. But it is still very nice and better than other competitive products.

This is an on-road opinion.

This just in......I"ve confirmed from Toyota America that they've never had to repair or replace a front R&Pinion or diff in the US.

with the sequoia, can you fit the tundra headers and exhaust? And just about all the other things they make for the tundra?

Is this true? I was starting to get concerned about the front R&Pinion breaking on mine. I do not plan on doing serious offroading, but living where it is snowy/icy a lot, I was fearing that it might break just like that......

FALSE! This thread was started by Spressoman as a joke. It's because of the 100 vs 80 threads where wars break out. :D

Spress? Close this? :D

I'll leave that decision up to Eric ;) . But hey...we gotta have some levity sometimes too:D !

the irony is that in the new toyota 4 wheel drive owner mag they show bill burke doing a sequoia buildup..

I know...I saw that! I actually couldn't believe it! But you KNOW there was an exchange of serious coin from Toyota to get him to saddle into a Sequoia! The Sequoia has to be a big money maker for Toyota...why not add a little more oooomph to sales eh?

When literature on the new Sequoia model came out, I saw it as the ideal SUV. I was impressed that it was larger than the LandCruiser and cost $10K less. Such a bargain (bigger is always better - right?). I started test driving them and decided that the 4WD sure rode nicer than my F150 4x4. Now I just had to settle on the colors and options and wait until one arrived at the dealer.

As I pondered when to make the purchase, some how I heard a rumor that the LandCruiser had a superior ride, 4WD system, and overall quality. There was a used LX470 on the lot that the salesman let me drive. I was significantly impressed, but even used it cost more than a new Sequoia. However, a LC showed up at the dealership and I test drove it - again impressed. In the meantime the Sequoia fever has fallen and I am in a quandry about what to do. My wife thinks I have lost my mind. The salesman calls a few weeks later to tell me a year end demo LC is available at $10K off list, said take it home over night and see what you think. I did, and drove it on all types of roads - paved and unpaved. I had to go to work the next day, so I told my wife to drive it back to the dealer and let me know what she thought. When I asked her about it, she told me I should have never forced her to drive the LandCruiser. Riding in one was nice, but driving one was even better - she now understood my quandry.

Most people never get past the Sequoia stage. For some with large families, the 3rd row seats have more room, and I understand, but Toyota does not spend much on marketing the LC, so most consumers consider it a smaller SUV at a much higher cost.

Conclusion, for room/size per $ the Sequoia is the winner. For overall quality, comfort, durability, and capability = LandCruiser.

Anyone wanna start a thread for "Sequoia Vs. Highlander" ?

No...but before I posted this one up I thought about Landcruiser vs Highlander...the cat's out of the bag now though...or maybe not :D .

The other day, someone at Yotatech (I used to own a 4Runner) was asking which vehicle to keep: Honda Element or 3rd Gen 4Runner. I was just waiting for the thread to be filled up with flammable comments.

He was asking in earnest, though, because his father had passed away and left him the 4Runner. He said he only did "mild off-roading" with the Element, like beach access or something.

I hope he keeps the 4Runner.

I hope so too. No brainer if the 4Runner is 4WD. Even 2WD I would like it better.

My wife just sold her Sequioa last week. We still own the 100. Everthing on the sequoia just feels "a little" cheeper. The 100 feels big on trail. We never even left to pavement with the Sequoia 'cause it's freaking giant. If you are buying stricktly a tow rig, then you could argue Seq. Otherwise go 100. I believe the resale will cover the difference in price down the road.
