CV Axle replacement 100 series, Refurbished vs New OEM

My CV axles have a fair amount of slop in the joints. Jerks on acceleration. Front-end shake 45-70 mph that stops once cruising/not accelerating. I've looked at after-market parts and decided against them. I found, however, a company that refurbishes original axles (OEM) and claims they are just as good or better than a new OEM. Any thoughts on that? They are significantly less expensive. Has anybody used J&J Axle Supply remanufactureds in Santa Ana, CA? Any reasons not to go with this vs OEM straight from Toyota? 1 year warranty

I have no experience with J&J rebuilts but I run CVJ rebuilt OEM's out of Denver and am happy with them.
Maybe just check if they have a core policy. CVJ's core policy is that the cores have to meet a few condition
criteria like the condition of the splines and that (obviously) the cores need to be Toyota OEM.
I feel like if they're up front about only paying full core charge back upon condition being confirmed,
they're being picky enough about what they'll rebuild.

If you're going to buy parts for an import truck, you should buy all the parts from the same international vendor. These CV axles, however, are the exception to the rule becuase their weight makes shipping + parts cost prohibitive, unless you can find someone who's already buying a container's worth of parts and convince them to add your to their order.

Absolutely no reason to buy all parts internationally for a non-US truck, esp. now with the deminimus gone. Anyway, if they're Toyota OEM axles they've refurbed, no reason not to try them. It's the cheap NAPA/Cardone axles that people seem to have the most issues with.

I can think of one reason: the parts aren't in US stock.

No kidding, but if it's a shared part, don't know why you'd take the time and expense. And with places like Cruiser Outfitters that deal in lots of non-US stuff, yet another reason.

I just checked the old interweb and new OEM axles can be had for $320 each. Several places are running Labor Day free shipping sales as well. I just checked Serra Toyota and they are $320 shipped.

Highly recommend replacing the hubs at the same time, and make sure you get new C clips. Most likely size D or E with new axles, in my experience.
