Used or new - new baby is requiring third row usage and I need somewhere else to store tools and recovery gear.

Reach out to @MongooseGA - he is beginning to produce a very high quality solution too!

Mine will come in 12ga steel, unfinished. Will include latches, tension hinges, and hardware to bolt it all together. I'm eyeing $275 for the kit, not entirely positive about shipping yet but all-in it'll undercut any other kit out there.

I'm wrapping up some tiny details on the design this week, and I hope to have a few ready to pack and ship by the weekend. If interested, feel free to reach out to me. I don't want to ruffle feathers on the forum as I'm not a paid vendor as of yet.

*Ran in to some compressor issues, have a new pressure switch on order and hopefully cutting again tomorrow.

Where can I see more pictures with the lid open? Is there a liner inside or just metal?

Does the hinge interfere with the tailgate flap or it effortlessly slides over the hinges?
Looking for more details.

I have just a few pictures of the initial install process. The kit will not come with a liner but I would recommend it. I added my own triple layer sound deadener inside the cavity. Eventually I may include a sheet of sound mat in the kit but not at this time. I will take more pics when I get back stateside next week. In the interim:

I've also been dabbling in a little project. I've resisted doing tailgate storage because I went to close a buddy's tailgate once, and the damn thing was 100lbs of damn near impossible. I figured my Ms would never be able to get in and out of the tailgate. But @LJE inspired me with his soft-close addition, so I stole his idea and ordered a pair of struts for the tailgate. This enabled me to finally let me freak flag fly and chop up my tailgate.

Since I'm doing this myself, I had no template to use as if I'd ordered the Huracan kit. So, I just copied photos from install DIYs. @Wermz came by because it seems like I never cut any sheet metal without him around. Thanks, buddy.

And then I sound deadened the entire cavity. While in here, I had to rig a solution for a broken plastic holder for one of the rear latch cables, and I (actually Ryan) fixed the horrible rattle that my reverse light panel has been making forever. Now I get a nice solid "thnk" when I close the tailgate and hatch, with no backtalk.

The hinges gave me a hell of a time in prototyping. I wanted to mount them completely underneath the panels, but couldn't find a worthwhile hinge that wasn't cost prohibitive. Ultimately I ended up having the hinge mount beneath the panel, but the barrel of the hinge does sit proud of the steel. Interestingly enough, the plastic gap filler flap pops up over the hinges, but the latches are actually the catch. I'm going to be including a soft foam type material to place under the flap so that it will be elevated just enough to clear everything. I am also very open to other design ideas to further improve the product. I'm neither a designer or an engineer, I just want to make good use of my plasma CNC table.

I'll also do an aluminum version, likely 3/16", but that will be much more expensive. I believe the material cost is 2-3x the 12ga steel.

I understand the cost difference of the matetial using aluminum. Do you know what the finished cost will be? Do you have an idea of the aluminum weight versus steel? Thanks

I'd have to pull a quote from my supplier again but IIRC it would be at least double the steel rate. I will probably do one or two trials to find out what the best thickness would be, so I'm not able to definitively say what weight would be like. I don't do much with aluminum yet, I'm not as familiar.

I've sent out 5-6 of these in the last few weeks, mostly by the Facebook groups. If anyone on here received one, I'd love to know your thoughts.

I'm also still needing an uncut truck so that I can put together the DIY assembly instructions. If anyone is in the Metro Atlanta area and wants one of these, I'll install it for you if you allow me to document the process.
