I know a few of you have run poison spider in your 100 series and I'd like some input on weather you think a stock 100 sans running boards with upgraded at tires would make it undamaged. I'm going to moab this weekend but won't be towing my trail rig this time and would like to run a few trails.

You don't want to do Poison Spider, Golden Crack and Gold Bar in a stock/near stock 100...or even an 80 for that matter. Unless you're looking to up your repair bill ;)

If you're going to run just Poison Spider, as an in/out, you may be OK...but will probably get some front bumper rash...and use your rear trailer hitch for a scraper.

Do White Rim Trail instead (advance reservations required if camping overnight)...or any of the multitude of trails that would result in more favorable results.

I've done it in and out thru the years in my FJ60, 4Runner, and 100. Should not be an issue if you are careful. You can do the white rim in a rental car (I have, of course it was a Subaru and, most importantly, a rental car). It's a pretty drive.

I saw a stocker up there with running boards on Saturday making his way back down and smiling wide. It's probably more fun with lift, sliders, and lockers or at least ATRAC though. My mild set up did great (lift, sliders, lockers and tupperware w/ trailer hitch for rear pro).

I wouldn't recommend doing Poison Spider in a stock truck. My built 100 took a beating on 34". Here is Klaus making it look easy!

There are bypasses to most of the hard parts. But there are a old of places where I hit my aftermarket bumpers with a 3" lift and 33.5" tires. I think you'll really kill your plastic bumpers. Why not do something a little easier like porcupine rim or fins and things? I'd rather have fun and not worry about ruining things.

White Rim would be fun. You only need a permit if you are spending the night. Just go down the Shaffer switch backs and drive into the trail for a few hours and back again. You will see a ton of cool stuff and your stock rig can handle it fine. Chris, I can send you the gpx file if you want.

The switchbacks are a lot of fun. An awesome place to camp is the canyon rim at Lanthrup pasture . Be ready for the random wind storm but the view is incredible.

Thanks for all the replies. My brother in law rented a 4 door rubicon and wanted to do certain trails. I can't justify towing my 4 runner up there from San Diego to off road for just one day as we are hiking the other days. I went ahead and rented the same jeep so now I can see how the other side lives. I know the cruiser would be a great choice for a lot of the other trails but I'm with a group. I'm actually excited as I've never driven a new 4 door rubicon. I've done most of the trails in moab in my 4runner I just never paid attention as to whether the cruiser could make it or not as I never intended to take it on those type of trails.

Just bumper rash.. Got to use my new front locker a couple of times taking the harder lines when I had a chance.

Bumper rash can be cleaned up with a rattle can :) That's not a beating!

Did I see in the photos you got rid of the Factor thimble and went back to a standard hook? Why the change?

Smart, the next Moab trip I do may be in a 5-Series and then renting some Side by Sides. Christo looked like he was having a lot of fun going up and down Poison Spider in 1/3 the time it took us in our rigs!

I rented a RZR 900 XP for a day so that my girlfriend could tear it up a bit, and we had a blast! We did Top of the World with it and putted around and definitely thought it was worth it. It's expensive to rent there in town, but it's nice to not have to pull a trailer with one if you rent where you live and bring it. I wouldn't mind renting one for a few days next time we're out there if we could get a deal.

The exit to Hells gets sporty. I wouldnt do that stock

You CAN Do Poision Spyder stock if your careful. If you have an opportunity to do one thing, Sliders would be my recommendation. Front bumpers can be replaced with another one or an ARB, rock dings under the door are very difficult to fix
