Looking for feedback from anyone who's installed Metaltech's 100-series sliders -

Recently removed the factory running boards from my '07 and in search of sliders that are dual purpose in that they're functional for my young kids to get in and out as well as legit protection that aesthetically look good. I want a slider that isn't a focal point, that's somewhat stealth in appearance, and from what I see I've gravitated to the Metaltech 100-series slider. I'm not out rock-climbing, as it's all light-duty offroad if any, so priority-wise for me it's usefulness for my kids getting in and out, overall looks, and the occasional protection whether offroad or in the local parking lot.

Would appreciate feedback from anyone who has purchased these for their LC. They look like a great product for the '98-'07's!

I have them and like them. Only issue is the top of one or more of the legs (vertical piece that sits against the frame) sometime make contact with the underbody on rough roads as the body mounts compress. I had to grind down a couple of them but I still occasionally get contact.

If I were in your shoes I would seriously look at the Slee step sliders. They are flat, don't have any gaps for little feet to fall into and I believe are a few pounds lighter.

Thanks for the quick reply! Good points, and will definitely check out the step sliders!

Have had the Metal Tech sliders for a couple of years and I love them. Excellent design, zero complaints. I bought them with the same intentions-good, subtle looks and something for my kids to get in and out of the 100. Never had an issue with little feet in the gaps.

I have their OPOR sliders. No matter which ones you get if you use them they will move and need to be adjusted. I may have them welded to the frame to prevent movement later but the price was right. Very happy and like the kick out design.

i also have OPOR sliders. basically the same. easy install. and used them already save me from rocker damage. very strong. and i put a pad on the top of the mounts no noise when it touch the body. like them very much

I have abused the crap out of my OPOR sliders, and they have held up great. Dropped the truck onto the passenger side one when I slipped off a rock. No damage. Did have to adjust it some after that trip as it was squeaky rubbing on plastic.

I have the metal tech's on my 06. They have worked fine for me. Mine are actually for sale in the for sale section...I got an 80 to wheel now.

I have MT's on my LC and Slee SliderSteps on my LX. Both are rock solid and have paid for themselves on the rocks. For kids I would recommend Slee's SliderSteps. The MT's have a gap that little feet/toes can get caught in and also they are slick. Them being slick is easily solved but the gap is not kid friendly IMO. My now 7yo has had a couple close calls slipping and also having her foot catch between the round tube and square tube. Skateboard tape solves the slipping for cheap but we never had a slip on my Slee's. If you wouldn't have said young kids I probably would not have even posted but that demographic is the thing that gives the Slee product a leg up on the others IMO.

I went with the Slee Slidersteps for their family friendliness. After having a truck with more "traditional" sliders, it's nice DDing something that I don't have to worry about people slipping on or falling through.

I have MT's. I love them, they are the exact look I wanted and have served me well off road. Now, they are slippery in the wet. But I'm 6'4" so I just get in. But I have a 2 year old and an 8 month old, so I'm not worried about it yet but will be in a couple years. By then, I may have upgraded to a 200. If I could do it all over again I may have gone with the Slee step sliders for family friendliness.

My 5,9 and 13 yr old boys don't seem to be bothered by the design of the opor sliders. Wife likes them too.

I ended up going with OPOR sliders based on price and look. I was going to grind off the front step pad and leave the back but just decided to leave them as is. Very pleased with them and the protection they provide.

I'd like to have a set of the Metal Tech Sliders as well. Maybe if there are enough interested buyers we can encourage MT to offer a group deal- like free shipping. The price of the sliders is fair but the cost to ship these from the North Wet to the South is kind of pricey $225

I would trade my MT for Slee step sliders.

The MT sliders have a nice kick out that give you extra maneuverability when making tight turns around a tree on a trail. Protects the rear panels greatly. I have 4 and 7 yr old children. They have used the MT sliders entering and exiting the vehicle daily for 3 yrs or so now w/o issues.

Also, the MT sliders are a tad longer and conform to protecting the rocker panels.
Somehow, @Land Speeder was able to damage his vehicle with the Slee sliders on...

Went with the Slee SliderSteps and definitely pleased with the functionality... easy in/out for the kids

I purchased the m
Metaltech sliders several years ago because at the time they were the only option that would accommodate my AHC. I've really enjoyed them and they've served my purposes very well I would have no hesitation to purchase them again.
