Flush the radiator? Sure doesn't sound like a cooling-related issue to me....and it's not "part of a 20 year old truck" problem either. Not with a 2UZ. Check engine light on? Have you checked to see if any codes have shown up? May be an intermittent problem with a coil pack or a bad spark plug.
No codes. Replaced one coil pack 2 months ago. No issues.
by 20 year old truck problem I mean is the radiator not flowing properly. I’m no mechanic so I assume it’s rad system related since it goes away once warm. I would think a coil pack would continue to be an issue.

01’ 100 Series Land Cruiser
334k purchased at 310k and drove it everyday for a year. Since I’ve owned I’ve changed shocks, added air lift 1000 bags in back, new bearings and brake pads in the front. Going to list it here in case any club guys want it before it hits market place and mud section. No rust 4800 obo truck is in Hattiesburg currently, but will be back in Brandon with me soon.
Black, but started its life as a white cruiser. No idea when it was painted black, but they went so far to add the gold pin stripes on it when they painted it black.
Well, as always the cruiser fought me today. An hour spark plug change took FOUR (4) hours.
popped out the air box, did the passenger side. No issues.
Moved to drivers side 1 and 3 too easy
started number five. Bolt for ignition coil. Cool. Plug for electronics. Good. Ignition coil comes out NO RUBBER BUSHING ON END. Look in hole. Yup.... there it is rotted/glued/melted/stuck to sidewall of housing.

See new ignition coil verse one that disintegrated. You can’t get a 5/8 socket on spark plug BC of the rubber. Infuriating.
