Anyone fooled with their sunroof?
Mines not leaking but is inop

found a thread where a guy put pretty good pics on disassembly/assembly

My advise leave it alone. Once you open it....then your leak will come.

Have you checked to make sure someone didn’t unplug it.
You can hear it trying to move. Believe guide wires are rusted.

im a big sunroof user but all the threads are saying leave it OR acquire $700 in non existent parts for 9 hours of frustration.... and potentially leaks.

Aloha lock and key on fortification is good.

she was very familiar with Hundo keys and has all the gear.

My sunroof died this past year - could also hear it clunk, but no movement. Unfortunately it also started leaking VERY badly.

My truck finally dried out with the recent stretch of nice weather, so I fixed it up Summer Avenue style tonight with some clear Flex Tape before the storms roll in.

Holy shucks this stuff is sticky. I could have put it on a dirty truck during a downpour and it would’ve stuck. It’s just like the commercials.

I will soon conceal this mod with a roof rack and no one will ever have to know about it.

Brilliant. This truck is going to my son in a few years. It supports the new rack argument and I need to repaint a 3x1 area where paint is gone so maybe I’ll go for the “conceal” method too

thanks for posting Cam.

just FYI the PO of my truck thought this would be a clever solution as well, but the roof of my truck did not think it was very clever. Paint is horrible now. I’m not sure how long he had it on there for, but it’s in embarrassingly bad condition.
It may stop the leak, but your roof paint looks very clean and instead of paying $1200 now for a sunroof repair, in the future you’ll be paying $1200 for a sunroof repair and ~$600-1000 for roof repaint.
food for thought.

Thanks for the warning, but this poor truck will never receive that level of pampering. It was bought to be a cheap beater and maybe hand it down to my son when he turns 16 (if it survives that long).

I’ve angered the cruiser gods with my Flex Tape repair and cavalier attitude toward maintenance...

It’s been raining all day and I once again have wet floor boards.

Whats next - new windshield gasket?

Did you let the window up?

I wouldn’t put it past me! Window was up though. Sunroof is dry and passenger side is dry, so we’re at least making progress.

I’m guessing windshield. It was put in right before I bought it several years ago. Other work done has proven to be done in an even more questionable manner than I would have done, so I’ll bet that’s it.

My 60 stopped getting wet floorboards after putting in a windshield, but two years later it is leaking again also.

If only you had a large warehouse location to put trucks during weather .....😜
