@Bull Moose 100 @John Young Thanks for the feedback guys. Sorry in advance for dumb questions. So, I probably should have been more clear but on the 05' 100 series, I do have Bluetooth integration on the OEM display/headunit. for phone calls already, just not to connect Spotify- play music. I assume the USA Spec BT45 Toy device replaces your existing Bluetooth phone call capabilities? - this is why you guys keep talking about where to place the mic?
I'm not really sure. But have a look here.

@TXLX007 is the mic still working good?
I'm prob going to put my BTtoy in this weekend, wasn't too sure if I should use the BTToy for phone calls or just leave it alone and use the built in phone feature. any advice?
also for your mic do you remove/replace the trim piece or what for the mic?
I know it's an old thread but had to try and see if you are still around.
if anyone else knows or has any info about this install i would love to hear any advice! thanks!!

Mic works great

BTtoy was an easy/fun install, but ended up preferring the OEM bluetooth calling. Easy to swap back.
It's been great for music and podcast streaming, couldn't be happier!

I just bought the Anker roav for $16.99 on eBay. It has 49 5 star reviews out of 57 total. Stay tuned. I purchased 3 different cassette adapters with no luck. My tape deck does that clicking thing where it won't actually work, that issue has been reported a few times and I don't think has been resolved without a full head unit swap out. Not making a ton of calls just want to stream some tunes!

Do any of the BT45-TOY people know how to turn off the annoying “connected” message? I know it can be done because I did it about a year and a half ago. Can’t find the thread. Had my truck in for repairs and I guess they unplugged the battery so it reset.

Short write up of Bt45-toy from Amazon for $133.

Very easy. Only programming required was to turn off the annoying voice prompts.
30 min install time.
Plug and play out of the box.
Was able to maintain full function of the six CD changer.

*Opted for the supplied microphone which was super clear when making calls and for Siri.

*Mounted the microphone right below the temperature gage wiring was very simple. The actual unit was placed above the vent in the dash.

*I’m able to get all the podcast data, Pandora data, music data & phone numbers View attachment 1849526

So far so good.

Do you remember how to turn off the annoying “connected” voice prompt? I had my truck in for service and I guess they unhooked the battery. It must have reset. I can’t find the thread with instructions. Thanks.

Has anyone tried the Grom-BT3 bluetooth adapter kit? I'm thinking about buying it.
I just installed this on my 07. Music streaming over bluetooth sounds great. Initially I had calls disabled for BT3 and was going to keep using the factory bluetooth for phone calls. However, if you want to use the track controls on the radio and steering wheel, then you have to enable calls for BT3. The connection seems a little finicky if you are trying to connect to BT3 and factory bluetooth. I can't comment on how it well it works making calls yet. It doesn't always start playing music when it connects to BT3. Sometimes I have to hit play on my phone, and sometimes I don't. I also bought the aux and usb charge connector just to have, but I probably wouldn't if I did it over again.

After listening to the BT3 some more, I am not getting great audio quality. There seems to be a scratchy static type sound while music is playing. The sound quality is better over aux than bluetooth, but the scratchy sound is still present. I reached out to Grom to see if there is anything I should do on my end to improve it.

How's the Anker Roav working for you? I'm considering one for my 04.

Howdy all. First time poster. Picked up my 2001 LX470 a few months ago and have been loving all the great info on the forums as I dig into little projects here and there.

My 2001 has the ML system but DOESN'T have Nav. I was getting mixed signals if the Bt45-toy would work with my model. On the amazon page it says it will not.

Soooo... I thought I would give the Anker Roav a shot just to see. There are a couple of different versions, I got this one which seems to be the latest with BT5.0 (Amazon product ASIN B0813L778N) It was only $15 so I figured what the heck, what did I have to loose?

I have to say!! I have been pleasantly surprised! After struggling with tape adapters and radio adapters 20 years ago I had low expectations, BUT man! This works pretty darn good! Hardly any static at all and sound quality is very good.

Anyway, just wanted to share my experience given the post above asking for feedback. For $15, I say give it a shot before you go with the BT45-toy.

I just bought a JDM 2000 UZJ to give our 04 100 a friend. This one is fresh off the boat with (I assume—haven’t picked it up yet) no BT adapter installed.
It’s got integrated nav (which came out earlier in Japan), and I assume the harness is the same as the US models, although all the buttons are reversed because RHD.

Looks like the BT-45 might be discontinued—NOBODY has one in stock. I just asked them and will report back.

And the Vais SL3B (which is what I put in our 04) looks to be only for 03 or later….

The Grom unit looks like it might work…

So, my actual questions:
Anyone know if the sl3b will work in a pre-facelift?
And is that or the Grom better?
Alternatively anyone have a BT45 for sale?

I’ve heard good things about GROM
