I know there are 2 (at least) other threads on this topic; however, they are old and seem to be somewhat dead ends. Before I embark on the journey of torturing my computer with .skp to .dwg to .sldprt conversions or torture myself by busting out the tape measure, does anyone have a current and accurate 3D model of the truck? I really only need the body and frame as I want to mess with designing bumpers.

The other threads /\

So the other question is how can one make a 3d file if push comes to shove. Is there a reliable way to make one?

Some phones have ability to scan.

Also query mud for members working in tech as thats a heavy scan use arena.

this will take some "poke & hope" but it's out there & available.

Yes I know can use phones as scanners but they are not as good as a good laser scanner. As you mentioned having professional grade dedicated equipment would really be the best way of getting a 3d scan of the lower end.. actually I would not mind having a 3d scan of the whole vehicle either. Good for all kinds of things.

I am also after these files. I have sent out some messages to Ih8 mudders that had posted their files and still waiting responses. If I can get some financial donations for the 3D scan, I can get the scan done and share for all. Message me if there is any interest. Thank you!

Hmm @ignite so I download the file.. renamed it from PDF to 3ds but it opened nothing in Freecad..maybe I am doing something wrong?

also after download the 3DS file looks to be just over 1MB or so? but the PDF downloaded looks like it is 4BM in size.

Right click save link as then match the two input fields as below. - Should be easier method

You can also rename file making sure to enable show extensions then rename File.pdf to File.3ds
If extensions are not visible and you rename you still have a pdf file its just named File.3ds or File.3ds.pdf

The .3ds file is 4.9MB
