100 frame vs everything else

Some 200 series cruisers were sold over seas with the 2UZ-FE up until 2011 .

I have driven a 200 series and i can tell you it feels much more solid than a 100 , specially off the pavement.

Don't move it to chat. I'm trying to get some technical details about the design of it and chat will ruin all hopes of that.

Just a friendly reminder to the posters, your topic is fine. Threads like this are quick to devolve into Ford vs. Chevy and then we get posts of 200 series jumping sand dunes.

also, a lot of ahc problems are not the systems fault......not changing out fluid on regular basis is a big issue...also going to a quick lube even a Toyota shop and having them put washer fluid in the AHC reservoir as they dont know better or dont think to check first...ruins the pump and the globes. Replacement with oem parts is very expensive so a lot of the mall crawlers with LC suspension were likely the result of mistakes or poor maintenance.....I would bet mostly the washer fluid in the AHC resevoir as culprit from talking to my buddy about it before.

I also dont think the 100 series has any more breakages or issues than an 80 series....yes we have CV Axles....but 80 has issues as well just not in front axle...but elsewhere. Not heard of one frying electronics either.....

We have a good group of 100s that wheel pretty regularly here in southeast and they follow the big boys with all things being fairly equal in tire size, etc.

I dont think really the 80 is more rugged than 100 except maybe front axle for extreme wheeling...otherwise I dont see an advantage. Plus I would rather carry a spare CV Axle..which I do....than the alternatives in an 80. LOL For a vehicle that is so bullet proof I sure do see a lot of repairs being done on them...hahahahahahahha

All in good fun....I love these threads! :)

Brock is spot on IMO.

BTW, 217k and counting on AHC in my work truck here... It is a maintenance item just like shocks, springs and coilovers IMO. The problem is that people buy used 100's and don't realize that their system hasn't had the first drop of maintenance for the first 100k and many times they too ignore it until they have a problem.

I've got the full gamut of vehicles here from tacos to full size 1-ton domestics and the 100 is THE weapon of choice for getting a crew, equipment and or clients to from and thru a remote or gnarly site.

But the 100 series frame got the flux capacitating harmonica dampernator on the passenger side frame rail.

This alone makes the 100 series frame far superior to the 80 series

I agree, pman. The Tundra frames are absolute jokes..

I have seen the frames on the 5.7L tundras up close without the cab and it aint no joke.

I have some marketing info Mr T released as media when they launched the 100 series. Will add it this thread when I can find it.
