Yea! I wanna see how the rigs held up. Need to reinforce some weak points. Are we all sharing battle scars here then?
Its 15hrs from Austin to Oliver Springs. MAGAMatt and his tow mirrors came out of Houston.I meant try to figure out this while we were all there. But I wanted to see who came from the farthest west. I know me and Jeff and DJ are all pretty close being from Austin,Fort Smith and Kansas City. Did any trucks make it to the event that’s farther west than any of us. And also who had the longest drive to get there? My drive was 9 1/2 hours.
You did not go hard enough. But I bet that tunnel was pretty?I have no new damage to speak of...
Did I not go hard enough???
Didn't you winch up one of those ledges? You did not go hard enough. But I bet that tunnel was pretty?
I think the key word is “new”. Most of the same areas will hit repeatedly on these rigs. Also, some people did full send it a couple times.I have no new damage to speak of...

Man... typically I don’t like going that hard. I didn’t really go hard until the final obstacle on 30. And then Sunday, we went pretty hard. You did not go hard enough. But I bet that tunnel was prett
I think my TcAse had a small leak. Looks like it’s on the back of the case. I’ll post a pic I took last night, but may need some better images to get this figured out

After further inspection I did hit my ASFIR skid a couple times. Driver side slider by far got the most work. Passenger side frame rail and RLCA mount took a couple hard hits as well. My son was scared of the bouncing around and hitting things at first, but by the end of the day he was wanting to go again ha.I feel like sliders, lower rear trailing arm mounts, and a rear bumper are probably the most important. Followed closely with skids.
I did…but I was the first to go on everything behind a double cased Tacoma. SOME people had the obvious advantage of seeing multiple trucks go over everything!Didn't you winch up one of those ledges?
While only being my second time at Windrock, the way we went on Sunday is typically the “normal” speed. But then again…the last/first time I was there I broke my truck on day one and was riding with Lee the whole time. LOLMan... typically I don’t like going that hard. The amount of vibration and noises I had coming from the truck at highway/interstate speeds was borderline scary. First time in a LONG time I set the cruise at BELOW the speed limit.Same problem I realized when I got home as well. I've also developed a "whine/roar" at 30mph +/-. I thought it may be the tcase with all the fluid I had on my driveway, but when I cracked the fill plug I still had plenty in there as it barely started dripping out. Still haven't really been able to pinpoint where it's coming from because I've only heard it while driving.
My ASFIR front skid is 100% trashed. 1/4 plate aluminum isn’t made to take on the hard stuff. Not sure how a screen shot from work made it into that post above but ok... I can't edit it either.
I don't have any armor scare photos to share, but I can go take some. Sliders are worth every penny, and I'm proof that no matter your budget you can find a set somewhere/somehow. The weak points I need to address after this ride are LCA mount skids and a lift. Also drug tail over just about every ledge we went down so a rear bumper would be nice as well.
ASFIR is that aluminum? After further inspection I did hit my ASFIR skid a couple times. Driver side slider by far got the most work. Yes my trail Taylor welded on skid plate took a beating on the RLCA. That’s a solid plan Aaron. Alex and I are also going to beef then up some on our trucks. Planning to add some side gussets, and then much longer front piece that is more gradual but not lower than current mount. And just reinforced. This piece took the most hits out of all of my armor besides sliders.I did…but I was the first to go on everything behind a double cased Tacoma. I’m thinking about addressing the RLCA mounts with a “ramp” type piece welded on front AND welding on some steel on the inside, outside and underneath. Just straight up making them beefier. I’m going to have to do something as both my mounts even with the skids from Trail Tailor are really bashed on and have been moved significantly off center.
Would a aluminum skid plate like SLEE that uses all of the factory mounting points and has internal bracing fared better on the rocks? My ASFIR front skid is 100% trashed. 1/4 plate aluminum isn’t made to take on the hard stuff.
Would a more robust (my opinion) SLEE aluminum front skid and the Trail Tailor creeper be a good balance between weight and protection for AHC 100's? You get the front protection from the slee and the transmission/transfer case skid from the creeper. I know it leaves the exhaust pipes unprotected and those pipes are $$$ to replace if using OEM.Sliders and skids have saved me so many times. When your bouncing and hopping over large(r) rocks and you come crashing down and hit, it’s so much better not having to think about what pan you just punched.
