Is an FJ60 Manufactured in October of 84' a direct swap H55F? I have found differing answers.

The most positive way to check is a quick visual on the tranny. If you have the 3" spacer section between the tranny and transfer case then you will have a direct swap. The H55 has the 5th gear in that spacer section. That spacer section does not exist on the older 4 speed trannys.

I had heard 86 & 87's were set up to take the 5 speed at the bell housing and that the transfer case was rotated slightly. I do not have any first hand experience on this though, sorry.
