In an unfortunate twist of fate, the same weekend the club went to the PPR, I was scheduled to be in OBX. Doing both would have been ideal but it wasn't in the cards.

I went for a few reasons:

1. I wanted to get a better feel for the SELC's progress limiting ORV access on the beaches firsthand.

2. Because it's the Outer Banks and there is nothing else like it. The great state of North Carolina rules. :D

3. To check out of work for a few days of down time to recharge and get some perspective.

4. Because it's the Outer Banks and there is nothing else like it. The great state of North Carolina rules. :D

5. To fish, kayak, drive on the beach and generally leave anything remotely serious or stressful on the mainland.

6. Because it's the Outer Banks and there is nothing else like it. The great state of North Carolina rules. :D

7. To break in a different Cruiser OBX style and let my pups share the good times since they don't make the trek that often.

8. Because it's the Outer Banks and there is nothing else like it. The great state of North Carolina rules. :D

OK, enough of the boring stuff. Onto the pictures, though they are a bit repetitive since I didn't take as many as I usually do...

This should be a good primer for the club trip next year!!

Beautiful Pics! Haven't been since I was a kid. Supposed to go the week of July 4th for a family reunion but have a feeling work is going to get in the way. One day for sure.

nice andy!!! to bad you were only a week behind the FJTT outing at the banks. Just realized id never seen that hunerd, again nice cruiser! was down in june and cant wait till next years outing.

Thanks guys. Wishing I was back there right now in a bad way... :crybaby:

I should be there in January, March and April!!

You need to join us young un. You turn legal yet, we all need to buy you a beer once you do!

Ahhh!! Nice pics bro!! Can't wait to get there in January to kill some ducks and in April to lay the smack down on some tuna and white marlin :skull: . I wish I could have gone down there but work and wild man Neyland held me up.

Where on the OBX is this? Jealousy is a bitch...

We actually stayed on the Northern part of Hatteras Island this trip - the Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo area due to requirements of being back on the main land a few times during the trip.

It was great but I like being closer to the southern end of the island (Buxton, Frisco, Hatteras) and over on Ocracoke too.

Yeah, I hear you. I am so excited about fishing / hunting next week I can't sit straight. Just found out today that the Salmon River is loaded with Steelies right now - stacked top to bottom. Big browns too and in the lake near our base camp, the land locked salmon are starting to move into the streams. Also, the deer harvest numbers look great so far, due in a large part to last year's mild winter. John reports good numbers of big bucks on the farm this year so I can hardly sleep...

Then it is on at OBX for water foul and big, heavy game fish!! :D

Yea, the southern end of Hatteras is where it's at...but OBX is OBX. Looking forward to a club trip, hopefully it wont be during a test week.

wow, beautiful! gotta love a cruiser on the beach! . . . used to work there with a friend of mine in high school years back during the summers and it was amazing . . . great times
