I’ve recently become very interested in a 100 series and appreciate all the information on this site. Given how thorough most folks are on this site, I’m sure you’ve seen the listing below.

Just wanted to solicit any thoughts on this listing if anyone is willing to opine.

thanks

Sixty-one photos and not a single undercarriage picture.
I had them send me the undercarriage pictures. While I’ve scoured on the internet to educate myself on what is too much rust. I just sent them to a buddy who owns a garage and in his opinion it was too much. Guess that one ended quickly!

Based on the engine bay pics, I doubt the undercarriage rust is all that bad.

BUT... unless it was spotless, and the truck had perfect maintenance records, the price is absurd. It's a virtual certainty that the TB/WP service is well overdue.

First owner kept the truck for all of sixteen months. That's unusual and not a good sign.
Then it sat in a dealer's inventory for a few months before getting shipped off to auction.
Bounced around between dealers, then got CPOd.
2nd owner took it for dealer service regularly. Then the truck sat for six years.

There will be significant recommissioning service due on this vehicle, IMO.

Appreciate the feedback. I guess I really thought the service at 84k miles (below) was a good sign. Again, thanks for your thoughts and my edification.

Frame doesn’t look too bad, but for a fellow Texan it’s terrible. Not the best of pictures either, would want to see up under it in the back where the spare tire is. You will find a much better one

Price isn't bad given the low mileage, but frame doesn't reflect said price.

This. If it was a southern truck without a spot of rust (and a one owner history with all maintenance up to date) I'd strongly consider it at that price point. I'd rather get a truck with twice the mileage and no rust for ~$20k which won't be hard at all. There's a gray one on here outside Atlanta ATM that needs a decent amount of maintenance for $18,500, for instance.

The pics of the undercarriage you've posted are definitely not of the same vehicle in the ad in the first post.

Those are two difference hitch receivers.

Oh shiet didn't even realize it's not even a 100 series, lol looks like a sequoia or GX, no torsion bars.

The engine bay from the truck in the first post is spotless.

No rust on the fasteners around the radiator and the wire clamps on the intake are spotless.

It's literally impossible for this engine bay to be attached to the truck with the underside you posted.

Good catch. That is either concerning (because they're incompetent) or incredibly concerning (because they are outright deceptive).

UNDERCARRIAGE PICS IS NOT EVEN A 100 series!!!

Pics are from a 4th gen 4runner that they have in inventory.

It's obviously an error by a brainless sales drone or lot attendant. There's no upside for the dealer to send the wrong pictures unless the LX is in even worse condition (which it isn't).

My thoughts were the pics online were not of the same truck they actually had in their inventory (edit: which upon further reflection still doesn't make any sense), but I haven't looked at the original post - just the rust pictures posted here. The simplest explanation (a half stoned 15 year old with a camera) is likely the correct one.

Wow! I should’ve noticed the receiver! I hope this is just careless and not intentional. I will follow up with the dealer and post their response, if any.

Appreciate the comments and advice.

Pointed out the different receiver. I’ll take them at their word as they acknowledged the mistake. Regardless, updated undercarriage pictures.
