01 Sequoia rear shock question (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, 2001 sequoia, bilsteins in the front, sequoia has no rake. Rear shocks are OLD and I need to replace them. I car camp and will hopefully, someday, be getting a small pop up camper so I want something that won’t sag with cargo and a small trailer. I don’t off road hard but do a lot of blm roads, gravel roads, and mild 4x4’ing. I’m considering adding some airbags in the rear just for sag but I don’t want to replace springs or anything.

In terms of adding airbags, this can be a good solution to help support extra weight. However, keep in mind that it's important to properly install and maintain them to ensure they work effectively and don't cause damage to your suspension system. As for replacing the springs, it's possible that they may need to be replaced if they are worn out or not providing enough support. You may want to have a professional mechanic inspect your suspension to determine if the springs need to be replaced.

From my experience, they're more comfortable in the valving used, and they're also longer lasting. Bilsteins usually go for 50-75k, but sometimes they blow a seal early and are done. These Dobinsons twin tubes often go 100k or more with no issues at all.

I've sold many guys in many Toyotas these shocks to replace 5100's and had positive feedback every time.

i agree, i have a 02 sequoia and tow a 30 ft travel trailer. air bags are a must for properly and safely towing with it.
