I won one of the raffle prizes today at a Cruiser swap meet. It's a Odyssey pc1200mjt drycell battery. I don't know anything about these, except they are supposed to be the top-of-the line-$200. Is anyone running these? Here's some specs: http://www.odysseyfactory.com/specs.htm Thanks 8)

Don't have one, but next time I need a battery, that's what I'm getting. I know a few on here have them. Supposed to be the woolie of batteries though. Congrats.

Are you replacing the existing battery or going for the dual battery setup?

Dual batteries would be nice for sooooo many things.

I never even thought about a dual battery setup. Honestly, I've been saving up for my tires, and have been thinking about seeing if I can sell the battery to go towards my fund. I haven't decided yet. 38lbs. is alot to ship somewhere if I E-Bay it :o!

I run a pair of 1200 in my fj40.

personaly I think for a single battery the 1700 would be better suited to a 80/100

for the 80 it would require heavy modification of the battery tray to fit the 1700 or 2100, but the 1200 is much smaller than the stock 80 battery, no one seams to make a AGM battery in group 27 :(

Lifeline has what appears to be a group 27 AGM battery in starting and deep cycle... made by Concorde Batteries, they are some of the best...

I use two Everstart Maxx HD group 65-N batteries. $58 each, made by Johnson Controls Inc, 3 year free replacement. 1000 CCA, no idea on the reserve.... maybe I'll do a search for some more info on em'. I've tried to justify spending $300 - $400 for two nice bling bling AGM batteries, the money is better spent elsewhere.

yep I have seen em at West Marine.

I have a 1700 in my 96 and it was easy to do. Drilled one extra hole and trimmed the battery case a bit. Had it installed in 20 minutes with the worst part being the factory cables are a bit tight.

Will snap a pic if anybody cares.

I would for one would love to have the details of that, from my measurements (made a cardboard template) it would require a large reinforcement section of the tray to be removed, also there is only about 12" between the battery hold down bolts, the 1700 is 13" wide according to their online specs, so it would need a different hold down mechanism

I sold the battery earlier today! Need tires more than I need amps! :P

Wonder if the stock tray would hold 2 of those lil guys....hmmm

Back before Odyssey bought them they were Black Panther Predator batteries. The Premier Power Welder guys sold them. I bought THREE of them for my samurai. Made for a really cool battery set up. The electrical system was profesionally set up, and those EXPENSIVE batteris DIED in less than nine months!

NOBODY would help be. The Premier guys said "Go to the manfacturer", Odyssey said "Not our problem" I lost a 1000.00 in batteries with ZERO recourse.

I then put in two optimas and they are still good two + years later.

I got FxxxED and noboday cared. I would'nt use those batteries if my life depended on it!

Good luck to you who do!

My install...

And another

And another...

so you did not have to make any modifications to the tray at all? Odysseys specs must include those protrusions on the sides, near the top of the battery there is more room than at the bottom of the battery tray,

ouch that is a lot of $ lost, I have not heard of any problems with the Odysseys yet, their 3 year warranty sounds OK, wish it was longer for a battery that expensive
