By the time you spend the money and time to get this out of a 1FZ you should've just LS swapped it because you're still going to be lagging behind LS power.
I'm at 384,5xx. Wife drove it today. It'll probably be 384,6xx by this evening. We'll have to do something special for 400k but with the mileage we put on the old girl these days that's probably two years away.
Truck was running rough and giving a P0305 code. Pulled the spark plug and it was all to hell. So replaced plugs, wires, cap and rotor while I was at it. Running like a champ now.
The transmission has been acting funky for a week or two. Delayed shifts, torque converter shudders etc. Thursday night I didn't know if it was gonna make it home. Bad shuddering and starting to slip. Called the local guy who used to be a Toyota master tech. He asked about the fluid and I told...
After 14 years, I gave up on Colorado (A.K.A. Eastern California) last year. I have a very love/hate relationship with Colorado. I love what it used to be and I hate what it turned into. :(
My '95 has 380k and has never had any major work done on it. Knock on wood. It'll eventually get an LS drivetrain swap but I wanna see how long this thing is gonna go first.
Good call on the 80 series slushbox. There's nothing "wrong" with the 60 series per se, but I've had a Tahoe or a Yukon for 20 years and I've always started having transmission issues around 125k with basically soccer mom style usage. I just think the 60 series isn't robust enough to deal with...
It's in good shape, but it's not as minty fresh as it seems to be in the pic.
Overall, I'm happy to get it.
The family was going to keep it and just use it to beat around on the farm. I was like, please don't do that. Let me kick you some cash and go buy a side by side or John Deere Gator or...
I've never sat in any other FJ80, but I have noticed these seats seem to sit up really high. I honestly like it. Combined with the low cut windows, visibility is excellent.
I have a decent understanding of the nuts and bolts of the overall platform, but I'm about as ignorant as I can be about different option packages. What makes this so interesting and rare?
