For father's day weekend, the old man and I decided to try our hands at the Birfield joints for the first time. Nearly had the job done in one day, but the Chinese rotors I bought didn't clear the face of the knuckle. It was nearly midnight and we decided to hit it fresh in the morning. Good...
The fan isn't interfering with anything.
And I'm on my oil like white on rice... Already bit the bullet once before, never again.
It has been crazy hot lately. I'm wondering if I should bump up my viscosity next oil change. Currently running 10w-30.
It's a bit difficult to hear it clearly in the video and it almost sounds like some random body rattling but it definitely isn't that... Only happens at high RPMs and you can feel it from the steering wheel.
Has anyone dealt with this before?
Search hasn't provided anything useful - these...
About to do mine for the first time and I've been thinking about how I'm going to approach it.
The washer above the bushing is included with new shocks, right?
Maybe use the washer as a sacrificial surface to guide in an angle grinder with a cut-off wheel at the base of the nut.
I've got one of those pintile hitches. Installed by the PO and I've never had the chance to use it yet.
I don't know what concerns me more, the pintile hitch or the conventional Reese tow bar which had to be shimmed by a number of washers by the PO because of some frame damage. I'd like to...
It was sad to drive along the banks and see where the water used to be and to see all of the now useless campsites.
Don't worry, once the glaciers melt, it should fill right up nicely, right? :grinpimp:
How long ago did all of this start? Our camp neighbors were locals and were pretty young...
Looks like I'll attempt this fix for my own vents. You'll have to keep us posted on how they work. Did you consider using loctite?
Does anyone know if these vents are available new? I'm not opposed to trolling the classifieds either though if not. My passenger side vent lost its vanes and has...
Did the diff/tcase fluids this weekend with no drama. Thankfully, those infamous plugs gave me no trouble. Just used a box end wrench. Makes me think that people just tend to over torque these things...
I kept both differential drain plugs because there is a hell of a lot more magnet on those...
I read that the 90341-18021 plug is okay for the tcase and bought six of those. Haven't done the job yet because I'm trying to find my six point socket. Is there a clearance issue with these plugs in the tcase?
I decided to try a suggestion made by tomcolins. I used a Testors enamel paint pen that I picked up from Hobby Lobby. Be sure to clean and degrease the area before you apply the paint. Bear in mind that I haven't tried this before and therefore have no idea how long this stuff will actually last.
Mind if I ask you how much those 4Runner wheels ran you? Do you have a part number for them or something like that? Love how they're not too far from stock to be distracting but they definitely refresh the look. Sweet ride. The red is a sick color on that vehicle.
No offence to anyone's methods, but I really think it's a chicken-sh*t solution. Maybe it works, but I just can't bring myself to do things that way.
Just finished pulling the head unit and cleaning up after this guy's mess. Wasn't fun in the Louisiana humidity, but now I'm set to build a new...
Bought a 92 from a guy on Craigslist this weekend. The guy had put a head unit, sub, and amp complete with 'custom' sub enclosure in at some point which usually throws up red flags for me but the rest of the truck looked pretty well kept so I decided it would be something I would handle...
